Will the People's Republic of China ever become a democracy in the future? Why or why not?

Also, is it right for the PRC to force Hong Kong and Taiwan into being called "Hong Kong, China" or "Taiwan, China" in every international event?

Why should the pay for elected and appointed people be guaranteed when the American public is suffering. Should things be changed so that based on a variety of statistics a part of the pay received by those in government reflects the health of the country as a whole?

This wouldn't mean that if politicians do well they get more. It would be based on a fixed salary where if certain statistical goals are met full pay would be awarded to those in office. Should things go bad politicians would suffer with pay loss.

If a senator's pay is $160,000 a year that would be the maximum pay he could achieve. Should the economy slump hi pay could be brought down to $100,000 per year.

I wouldn't expect people who get into office to suffer much from this but it would be a way for those in office to suffer with the country as a whole. Why should those who create problems be allowed to get raises indefinitely. Have Reps or Senators ever been laid off or taken a pay cut?

Any thoughts on this idea?

I've experienced it! I live in downtown Chicago. When I'm there or in the suburbs, I have a sense of being around people and in a society. That makes me think and feel that liberal or left-leaning ideology is best. When I drive out to rural areas, I lose that immediate sense of society. That makes me think and feel more that individual responsibility is most important, and I shouldn't need to pay taxes to support so many government programs, and perhaps that I shouldn't take support from a government. Has anyone else experienced this? I think this is fascinating.

A plane passed through a severe storm. The turbulence was awful, and things went from bad to worse when one wing was struck by lightning. One woman lost it completely. She stood up in the front of the plane and screamed, "I'm too young to die," she cried. Then she yelled, "If I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?"

For a moment, there was silence. Everyone stared at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then a man from Texas stood up in the rear of the plane. He was handsome, tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Slowly, he started to walk up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt as he went, one button at a time. No one moved. He removed his shirt. Muscle srippled across his chest.

She gasped... Then, he spoke..."Iron this -- and then get me a beer."

Ha ha .... just thought that I would lighten things up in here...

I've been looking into the CIA, DIA, and NSA a lot recently as possible career choices, but my problem is that they all require experience in a similar career... So where is the job that you're supposed to get started in?
I'm looking for a career a college graduate can get into. Next year I will graduate on the Dean's List with a Degree in International Relations, and a double-major in Asian Studies. I can speak and read Chinese and I spent an entire year studying abroad in China.
I traveled various Asian countries during this time, but it doesn't change that I have no experience in CI, HUMINT, or anything like that. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

They don't really care about what they're doing to their "children", only that THEY are RIGHT. Why is it so hard for us to just stand united as a country & stop the terrorists before there's another attack?
The terrorists are like disobedient children, they're never going to stop when they can just play mom and dad against each other - then both parents are too busy fighting with each other to even know what the kids are doing. We as US citizens are going to be the ones paying for this costly mistake.

I'm opposed to "Patriot I and II", the Homeland security act and every other "big-government" idea and program because they intrude on individual privacy and freedom.

Am I in favor of terrorists having the same liberty and privacy? No, of course not. That's why profiling is an essential part of any police investigation.

Wahabism (radical violent Islamic belief system) originated in Saudi Arabia and has spread throughout the Islamic world.

When 19 Saudi Arabians flew planes into the Center of the West's Financial Empire (World Trade Towers), do you think an appropriate response would have been to bomb the Center of the Islamic religion's Empire (Mecca)?

And do you think that would have marked the end of Islamic terrorism against the united States of America?

I'm for programs to assist people who need serious help, but isn't it obvious that socializing the industry will cause a downward spiral?

The Busheviks like to reduce the War on Terror to its simplest possible terms: are we winning or are the terrorists?

How many times have they (especially Bush, Cheney, & Tony Snow) attacked Democrats for taking some action that will "help the terrorists?"

Well now it's official: the terrorists are winning.

Bush Aides See Failure in Fight With Al Qaeda in Pakistan

President Bush’s top counterterrorism advisers acknowledged Tuesday that the strategy for fighting Osama bin Laden’s leadership of Al Qaeda in Pakistan had failed, as the White House released a grim new intelligence assessment that has forced the administration to consider more aggressive measures inside Pakistan.

Bush is Losing and the Terrorists are Winning...

Oh wait...

Case in point: Taxpayer support for the arts. If there's a market for it, won't people pay for it voluntarily? Some guy who gets a Masters in Fine Arts and paints crap that no one wants to buy is deserving of taxpayer handouts? I know, I know, if the taxpayers don't pony up at the barrel of a gun we'll turn the place into a barren wasteland devoid of "culture" (whatever that is).
