They showed little except their tenacity (or great coffee) and accomplished even less. This was largely ceremonial, ie., trying to prove their opposition to the war and all things Republican.
On the publicity end, the Democrats didn't succeed too much since Oprah/Obama and Michael Vick have supplanted the all-nighter in the news.

What it did is force the GOP to display their lack of patriotism and contempt for the welfare of our troops and for the will of the American people yet agin.
It will further erode the ability of the right wing to intimidate the many decent Republicans--further erode Bush's last vestige of power.
