Did it help or hurt their image? Did they do well or poorly with this session and the publicity it gained?

I think all they wanted to accomplish was to create an awareness that they were, at least trying to do something. Unfortunately, I doubt that it made much difference. -RKO- 07/18/07

The main accomplishment was pointing out that when push comes to shove the Republicans will still fall into lockstep with the Bush administration. This can only help the Dems.

They created a great deal of awareness of what they are trying to do AND they did turn 1 more Repub to vote with them. The 53-46 vote was one more in their favor than the last time. I think the closer it gets to re-election time next fall that more and more Repubs will distance themselves from Bush, his poor public ratings, and the unpopular war in Iraq.
