First of all your question should specify if the "immigrants" are Legal or Illegal. If they are legal then that is fine. If your asking about Illegal then that is Not Fine. Here's a few reasons: You and I, as tax payers, pay for things like their government subsidized health care, housing, their social security & social services. Why are kindergarten classes now being taught 1/2 the time in Spanish (I know for a fact because 2 yrs. ago I was sent a letter informing me that the class my daughter was assigned to was going to be taught 1/2 the time in Spanish, I am now paying quite a bit of money for my children to go to private school), school over-crowding, crime, congested highways, illegal gang members running the streets, prison over crowding, emergency rooms going broke, anchor babies - one after another, after another and another. Illegals come here, have children, get welfare then go back to Mexico, still collecting their "American" welfare money and live in Mexico very nicely! This is happening all the time! There is a city near me that gives illegal migrant workers housing that costs them about $55 a month rent and these people are driving Escalades - no joke! Why can't my American mother afford health insurance but if she were poor, uneducated and illegal she would have every "service" available to her? Why is it if I did something illegal, I would be punished but if someone comes over the border illegally then we are suppose to reward these people with money, services and protection, and American tax payers get called bigots for being tired of it. Where is this fair? How are they being treated so bad? They get treated better than many Americans do. Go to Mexico and see how illegal immigrants from South America are treated then tell me how bad they are treated here. Lastly, there is a HUGE difference between "Illegal" and "Legal" Immigrant and it is very obvious when the terms are conveniently left out.

I don't have any problem with legal immigrants, what every country they come from. It is the illegal immigrants from what ever country they come from that gives me heartburn.

Most everyone just wants to work and buy stuff and have families and have healthy educated kids. The problem is that having large numbers of unaccounted for individuals in the system gums up the works.

False social security numbers, non-accounted for payrolls or deflated wages, health care burdens, etc. cause resources to be misallocated. Or they cheapen the value of labor by legal residents.

We want social medicine and social security and all of that other safety blanket stuff that wealthy countries are suppose to have. Well if we keep on this road we might as well have a North American Union and then we can all go where we want and do what we want for our own betterment

You are right there is no need to treat them badly. But along with those that just want to work are also those that want to further break our laws. We have gang members and drug runners crossing our border ever day and we don't do anything about it. Wouldn't it be wiser and safer if we made everyone "check in" before they entered our country so we know who is coming here and we might have an inkling of whether or not they are criminal? Just a thought.

There is no reason to treat them bad. As long as they are legal immigrants they have the right to do whatever they came over for as long as it is legal. The illegal immigrants have no legal rights and should be sent back home. But in a humane manner.

I fully support immigration. Why not allow the people who seek to better themselves, and by extension, this country. If you accept the premise that people ultimately seek out what is best for themselves we as Americans should be glad that people are seeking to leave their country and all that is familiar to come here, where life is better.
The problem with immigration is that some people come and abuse the system. Those are the people who need to be kept out. Those are the people who would come here illegally.

Legal ones have a right to be here and come within quotas designed to protect our schools, hospitals and wages. Illegal ones violate those quotas, and overstretch our services, ruin our schools and drive wages down.

Legal immigrants are welcomed and should be treated accordingly. Illegal immigrants are criminals and should be treated accordingly.

you're actually not an immigrant, you're an unlawful alien, there's a great distinction. you may not get "papers" mutually as you reside right here thumbing your nostril at our u . s . a . and our regulations.
