Immigration - January 2007

I have been hearing more about this case, including this piece on the conservative web site National Review:

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MTQ4OWJjZTNmODMwNzhlMzA2MzZhYzJmYWM2NjBkYzI=

I support law enforcement and oppose illegal immigration. But there seems to be more to this case than we have heard.

I feel very torn about this. I pray for these men and their families. But I'm not sure that they deserve total amnesty.

What is your opinion?

Would we have all the rights, and the financial support of the Mexican government? Would we be able to work for good money and send it all back to America? Would we have teams of lawyers protecting us as a special interest group? Would they let us break into their country and start breeding like rabbits who demand more and more of theirr resources?

I've heard Canadian citizens who have PhD's can apply for jobs in the US and are eligible to work in the US. They are also entitled to a green card/work permit. Is this true? I think it has something to do with NAFTA?

Who put out the fire under the melting pot? Its obvious that immigrants of today are not assimilating like the immigrants who came during the great wave. We would probably be speaking German right now if we treated todays immigrants the same as the immigrants from the 20's. I would have asked my question like this; Warum nicht die anpassenden Immigranten sind, wie sie zu verwendeten. It has been predicted that in 50 years the predominate language in the US will be Spanish. How could this happen if we held them to the same standards as immigrants from the 20's? If we did, there wouldn't be schools using bilingual education (Spanish and English), there wouldn't be multi million dollar tv stations like telemundo and univision, and we certainly wouldn't have towns like El Cenizo, TX that conducts all town business in Spanish. So why is this happening if we don't have a double standard? Who decided that we would give Hispanic immigrants this preferential treatment.

I am an immigrant and I am very confused of what I really think of me and my fellow immigrants. Sometimes I feel like we shouldnt be here but in other times I feel like we have a right just like everyone else in the entire country even know some of us are not suppose to be here. Sometimes I feel like American citizens are trying to give us a guilt trip and by having only speak English laws that they are trying to beat the immigrant out of us. But any opinion counts.

What do you think of him?http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,247998,00.html

Hunter, the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, opposes abortion and free trade policies that he says are promoting massive trade deficits and lopsided global relationships. He also has strong opinions on creating tough immigration reforms to tighten up illegal border crossings.

The representative from San Diego County told FOXNews.com that he is being embraced by conservatives who aren't thrilled with the prospects of McCain or former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as their nominee.

"I think my message uniquely resonates with the American people at this point in history," said Hunter, 59, who is in his 14th term representing California's 52nd District. "We'll see if I can attract a crowd."

Thoughts?

If you think about it, these men are all alone in the middle of the desert sharing how much they love each other. Since theres no criminal background check a lot of these criminals may and could have spent nearly all their lives behind bars which they acquired "certain" habits in order to satify their natural human "love necessities" Are these "heroes" the real face of American patriotism?

We're led to believe by movies and TV that everyone in the world would sell their kidneys to come to the USA, but the truth is:

Of 125 million immigrants worldwide, less than 1% come to the United States, and...

Of 11.7 million refugees worldwide in 1999, only 85 came to the United States.

So, in what countries do immigrants really settle? Anywhere in particular?

I have a friend that has beeh her for almost 10 years. Someone told me that there is a law from the early 1980, that is still functional, which states that if a person has lived in US for more than 10 years without deportation - eventhough they might have came into the country illegally - the prson is elegible for neutralization.
Before i ask a lawyer, has anyone heard anyhting about it.
I appriciate everyones input.

Reading about not only the jobs they are taking away from Americans. But also the effect that they are having on ALL levels of education, (Why does an Illegal not have to pay out of state tuition?), Health Care, and the Criminal Justice System. More Americans were killed by Illegal immgrates than by Terrorism in the last 5 years. So what can we do about it?
