We're led to believe by movies and TV that everyone in the world would sell their kidneys to come to the USA, but the truth is:

Of 125 million immigrants worldwide, less than 1% come to the United States, and...

Of 11.7 million refugees worldwide in 1999, only 85 came to the United States.

So, in what countries do immigrants really settle? Anywhere in particular?

My source is the American Immigration Law Foundation. I couldn't care less about the politics of the matter and so-called "illegal" immigration. I'm just interested in the number of people who move from one country to another.

Entering USA is much harder than entering Europe. So many immigrants gor to Europe. The 90% of immigrants you say are displaced people because of war. Take Sudan, Uganda, Rawanda, Burundi, Congo, Siera leon, Liberia, Ivory Coast. Almost 60% of world immigrants are from africa and they travel from unsafe places to safe places in neighbouring countries. 80% of world immigrant can't affoard air travel because they are poor so they have best option to enter in neighbouring country. Like Iraqi immigrants gone to syria, jordan and turkey.

Your "statistics" are wrong!! As of 2006, the United States accepts more legal immigrants as permanent residents than the rest of the world combined.
This can be verified online by doing a search on official immigration sites. I will not provide links since they are not allowed on here, but they are EASILY found!!
DO NOT TRUST facts and figures that people put on this forum or anywhere else!!! They are often twisted to suit their own agenda or outright lies!! Conduct your own research, verify your own sources!!!!

I think the most immigrants are the ones that go from eastern europe and africa to Europe.
And by the way, I think youre confusing illegal migration with legal migration. I'm sure legal migration to the US is MUCH MORE than 1%, more like 39 million, according to the Immigration article on Wikipedia.
Also, one third of the world's migration is from one "developed" country to another.

If the U.S. takes 1%,i think the remainder is split between Canada and the UK. Congradulation on your immigration system, looks like its working.
