How about hammering the people who hire them with serious fines?
Done.

Through a combination of direct action (raiding communities known to have a heavy illegal population), fining businesses, and denying the benefits of our social services (health care, schooling, etc.) I know many will see this as draconian, but if you want to stop illegal immigration, the only option is to make them unwelcome to the point where they begin to long for home.

I say this with the full knowledge that it'll never happen. The illegal immigration craze sweeping our nation, particularly in Washington, is all about flooding the job market with cheap labor, and further driving down the wages of American workers.

I have also wondered just what level of expensive schooling our illustrious leaders need to be able to figure out that a simple bill amending the Constitution could block automatic US Citizenship to Children born to people Illegally, or unjustifiably here, and save this Country Billions of dollars!-Not to mention our Sovereignty!

Then, allow local enforcement of Federal labor and Immigration Laws, so Local Police could fine all of the employers(Millions) using un-documented workers picked up at day labor assemblies!

FOLKS, call an industrial Temporary Help for legal, documented, insured workers!-It's the RIGHT thing to do!!!! Illegal hiring saves the employer a little, but cost the whole community a LOT!!!!

Put the military on your southern borders. They are supposed to defend the country, aren't they? Perhaps the threat of bullets might dissuade lawbreaking.

Make it a Felony to hire and employ illegal aliens. That would put 2/3 of congress in the Pen, including Speaker Pelosi, making that part of the plan that much more appealing.

Oh, wait. The congress that would have to pass this legislation might not enjoy legislating their confinement, plus their big business backers (yep, even the party of the common man gets big $$$ from them) might be inclined to support their electoral opponent in the next election.

I guess we'll continue down the same path and do nothing except complain about it and offer token enforcement of our borders.

Enforce the law by any means necessary - even if it means that the US is less than compassionate. Would Mexico greet our citizens flauting their laws witn a grin? Nope. Does this make them less compassionate? Nope. It does make them consistent.

I would start by getting rid of the illegals here all ready, with the use of attrition. If we give them amnesty that will only signal others to come on over. Then I build a fence, assimilate border patrol with the national guard. The most basic thing you could do to "guard your nation" is to secure the borders. Slap employers with higher fines and enforce them. Pay for the training of local law enforcement so that city and state officials won't be able to use the cost of training as an excuse. And for every illegal alien caught in our country I would take away student and travel visa offers to foreign countries.

This is what I would do to stop illegal immigration: first, I would make an announcement (in Spanish and English) that said that we would be coming for all illegals. I would deport them and tell them if they were caught in the country again, we would kill them (that doesn't sound so harsh when you take into consideration that Mexico kills all illegal aliens. Kind of ironic, isn't it?). But I agree with you. If employers would stop paying them, there would be no reason to come here anyway, except of course welfare and social security. If we could adjust the rules to state that no illegals can get any financial benefits and we came down on those who cheat on America (illegal employers), then we could stop illegal immigration.

It can be done in three easy steps:

1. Create a secure border.
2. Require that every local, state, and federal agency not allow illegals to collect welfare or benefits of any kind.
3. Require the Department of Labor and other agencies to begin doing random and unannounced checks of business' employees. Raise the fines for hiring illegals to $10,000 per illegal.

This eliminates the means to get here, the security blanket if they're here, and the ability to gain employment. In about 6 months, the problem would solve itself.

Too bad out government doesn't have the balls to do it.

Does anybody remember that episode from South Park where people from the future came into the States and started working for peanuts and then everybody decided that the only way to get rid of the futurists is to have everybody work? Something similar would be nice so that way we have less illegals.

Lots of great and true answers. Don't hire them, drop the hammer on the one's that do.

Close the borders however. Wall in part could work.

Stop teaching them in Spanish and giving away our tax dollars to them except in emergencies. This does not include free ticket rides for babies nor for anchor babies.

Help the seriously injured and then ship em' home. No questions aked past that.

Permit local cops to arrest and turn over any criminal suspects to ICE for any infraction/suspicion they may be illegals.

Stop paying tax dollars to groups like La Raza Unida and MECHA and other highly racist groups against anyone but Latins.

That should take care of it.

Exactly!!!
No jobs for illegals = very few illegals in the USA.
As a fiscal conservative I believe we shouldn't waste funds on a wall. We should use those funds informing employers about the consequences of hiring illegals & then prosecuting repeat offender employers, heavily fining & imprisoning business owners & their CEOs & CFOs.
Next we should make it illegal to rent housing to illegal aliens.
Those two things would take care of 98% of all illegal aliens.

I agree employers are the blame for a big part of illegal immigration, the rest lies with inaction from the govt. from a gutless congress down to state&local politicians.I did read in the Tampa ,FL. newspaper this Sunday a.m.that the chairman of the Hispanic Legislative Caucus, State Rep.Juan Zapata R-Miami filed a bill last Thur. to punish businesses that are breaking federal law hiring illegals. He stated business owners understand the law better that illegals. Under his bill construction&hospitality industries would face suspension&denial of licenses issued by FL. Dept. of Business&Professional Regulation. Agriculture would be denied tax exemptions in addition to civil fine of $25,000 per violation. Also on TV I heard a Texas legislator asked the state not accept births to illegals as US citizens in his state. We need more politicians to step up with courage like this two!God bless America!
