I have been hearing more about this case, including this piece on the conservative web site National Review:
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MTQ4OWJjZTNmODMwNzhlMzA2MzZhYzJmYWM2NjBkYzI=
I support law enforcement and oppose illegal immigration. But there seems to be more to this case than we have heard.
I feel very torn about this. I pray for these men and their families. But I'm not sure that they deserve total amnesty.
What is your opinion?

Thanks for additional info.
Read some of my other questions and answers - I am very anti-illegal immigrant.
But I keep hearing damaging information on this case, from conservative sources that I expected would defend these men. Are they all carrying water for Bush? Maybe.
Perhaps the sentence is much too long, but perhaps some lesser penalty is warranted.
I do not know. I will keep reaseaching. thanks.

You are correct there is more to this than we were suppose to know..for some reason these men were "thrown to the wolves".
Some speculate it has to do with "relations" with the Mexican government.
It is now charged that the U.S. attorney and his assistants are guilty of malicious prosecution. Also charged is the prosecutors lied to the jury and he twisted evidence to make it fit his case. And when he couldn't twist the evidence, the government demanded that the court seal evidence which would have been exculpatory to the defense. Just surfacing is that ballistics data don't support charge.
At least 70 Republican Congress members have ordered that the convictions and sentences of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean be vacated and that they be released from custody immediately. So far the department of homeland security have not handed over the records that were petitioned over two mounts ago. They were told they would have them in two weeks.
I am listing some of the sites that have info. You can form your own opinion.
But for me they can't free these men fast enough.

According to the prosecutor in the case, if they had filed the proper paperwork, they wouldn't have been in trouble. Sooooo, they are in federal prison for improper paperwork.
Actually, I've heard that there was important evidence that wasn't presented to the jury, the jury was rushed into making a decision, they were told they couldn't have a hung jury and the jury believed the work of an illegal alien drug smuggler over two border agent. I sure wouldn't have believed that a drug smuggler (carrying 700 pounds of pot) didn't have a gun. The agents could have lied but they said they didn't know for sure.
This is CRIMINAL! As two radio "shock jocks" in LA call them, they are political prisoners because the govt wanted to make an example of them.

I believe they should be pardon , in fact they NEVER should have been charged in the first place . ' There is something rotten about this issue and it's starts with the Prosecutor and ends with the Judge . There have been many Congressmen wanting a investigation of this whole event . Nobody will hand over the papers for anyone to look at .
Why Bush won't get involved , well it could be that he doesn't want to mess up his plans for a United North America and their NAFTA Super Highway from Mexico through the US and into Canada . Clinton was there in the beginning , but Bush has kept it going and expended on it . Check it out NAFTA Super Highway
Smells like a cover-up to me .

I am also very torn over this issue, and there are many issues that were not disclosed to the general public. There might be many different stories out there and fingers are pointed in many different directions. From what I know, inside info and outside info, in my opinon, the agents should have received some form of administrative punishment, versus criminal punishment. The agents were guilty of certain things, but not to the point for them to serve jail time. Lose their job, maybe, get time off without pay, for sure, but that is just my opinon, on l what I know. God Bless them and their families,,,,,,,,

This fact that these men are in prision is a joke and an insult. I think the reason why Bush won't pardon them is because of his guest worker program nonsense. My guess is that he will pardon these men just prior to leaving office in 09.

If you will go to the 360 page of MinuteWomen you will find the most comprehensive article about this on her blog. Its a very very informative article. The best full report on this issue. It has everything you want to know ,good and bad.
I support full pardons for both of theses Border Patrol agents
I feel the "true facts" of this case has been intentionally distorted to make the agents look bad.I wouldn't trust anything that Sutton, the government or the media tells you .They are masters at distortions and manipulation of truth.

Facts of the case that matter to me are
1)illegal immigrant
2)drug smuggler
3) if the illegal was sent to court he would serve a short sentence and be deported and shortly there after he would be back doing the same thing
4) 2 Americans paying for the crime committed by an illegal drug dealer.

It's obvious that people feel these two men are innocent. I don't see why the government is so scared about givng a pradon. I mean unless of course they are scared of the Mexican/USA relations... Which obvisouly Mexico doesn't care about...
