At first, most of the country will be quiet, as it is now. Then things will spiral out of control, mainly in the area around Baghdad.

This small region will become more of a bad neighborhood than it is now. Then there will begin an ethnic cleansing (read: mass murder) of the Sunni's. They are a distinct minority and Saddam violently repressed the Shiite majority for decades. Revenge has been and is a powerful motivator.

Next, Iraq will become a satellite of Iran with the added 'protection' of various militant Islamic groups not limited to Al Qaeda.

In short, much the same thing that happened to the Kurds after the US stiffed them after Gulf War I. With our inability to accept even the small number of casualties in Gulf War II thus far, the US will be relegated to paper tiger status and no one will dare partner with the United States militarily again.

No Americans will die...in a civil war usually the strong win. I believe the Iraqi people have enough pride to take control of their own destiny. It may not be the one we had in mind for them but it will be their own. I believe we should equip the current regime, and fortify it for the next year then draw down the number of troops on a gradual basis. When we are need the call for help will come. That is the true nature of democracy, and friendship. We will be there for them, and stand by as a neighbor not an occupier.

Unfortunately, it is their blood to fight and to die by the sword. They have never known peace in Iraq ever. Sad, but they will probably continue to fight until the end of the world. That is probably a fact. Peace to them is a road side bomb at their neighbor's home not touching theirs. If we arn't there to protect what we have started then all American soldiers who have died there would have been for nothing. The Iranians would fund the terrorists and we would have another Saddam in charge and we would have to do it all over again which means our grandchildren will die if we don't take care of the situation now. The time is now, not later.

We cannot leave Iraq now. There are three main reasons why:
1. We are helping Iraqi citizens get a better life and government.
2. Iran, knowing that the U.S. isn't close to their country anymore, would invade all surrounding countries, and they would follow the U.S. out and terrorize our country, killing thousands.
3. We can't leave them now because they need continual support until they have a stable government.

They would probably fall back into their same routines. But i can't say for sure, because Iraq is not my home. The United States of America is. And we definitely have enough problems here to deal with. Which is exactly what i feel we need to be doing.

I hope we don't have to find out. We will be considered quitters and the terrorists will be planning another move towards the USA. And all the whiners that been saying, stop the war will be saying, "geez, anyone going to do anything about this.? Well, wait , maybe they'll just blow up a few of us and go away." Heaven forbid we stick up for ourselves.
Wait a minute, I forgot, Jane Fonda and all the other movie stars that have turned traitor, will put a stop to them hurting anyone.

Actually it is the American mess - how soon you forget. It is now up to the Americans to fix the problem they created. You should have gone with UN instead of insinuating your selves. If the US runs away with its tail between its legs they, because of Bushwhacker and his cronies, the US will look stupid once again. If the US runs from Iraq now civil war will erupt and surrounding countries will get involved.

USA has created the problem. So USA is responsible to find solution for present day crisis. We have to forget the loss of US Human lives.

USA can not leave Iraq. It will loose credibility.

But if USA leave Iraq, I think it will be better off without USA army inside Iraq. Let Iraqi themselves solve their problems. It will take time atleast 10 years for Iraqi government to establish themselves as sole government representing iraqi people. The present government has factured mandate. Even Iraqi amry is not well qualifies and well equiped. So I would like to see major change in USA policy toward Iraq. and for that I would like to see change of USA military role in iraq from more pro-active and lead army to training and supporting iraqi army. Without establishing Iraqi army, USA can't find a solution of present day crisis.
