Immigration - December 2006

There is so much negativity about immigration. Does anyone have a positive solution for it? For example...please give me some positve opions on this. My classmates and our leadership commitee are trying to figure this out for our whole school. I would appreciate your side of the story thanks.

to stop making it so easy for illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses?

Morales-Soriano used a North Carolina driver's license issued Feb. 5, 2004, to obtain a license in Maryland on July 8, 2005, according to Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. WND has reported on the popularity of North Carolina as a destination for illegal aliens seeking easy access to a driver's license.
The state's requirements to obtain a driver's license are weaker than those of many surrounding states, according to a performance audit of the licensing process.

Court officials in New Jersey, for instance, have complained that the requirements are so weak that busloads of illegal immigrants get on I-95 heading south and drive to North Carolina to obtain licenses fraudulently.
The audit, administered by the Department of Transportation and the Division of Motor Vehicles, said documents considered acceptable for proof of residency in North Carolina are easily forged, or the information not verified.

I work with a majority of Hispanics and most of them are very sweet. I have noticed that they are are reserved at first, I guess they don't know how we'll act towards them?I have worked with one guy for about the past 8 months and him and I have become really good friends, despite our language barrier. I can speak more Spanish than he does English and we both converse and teach each other our language. He tells me that I am his best "amiga" and that he hopes we are friends forever. He also will say stuff like "sexy" or "bonita" or "tienes novio? porque..tu eres muy bonita" which I just take as joking. A lot of the people I work with figure why bother to try and communicate with them and do not even give them the time of day. Do you think they appreciate an effort in getting to know them and communicating and that's why he tells me I am his best "amiga" or is it just a cultural difference? I know I appreciate it when they speak English and I get offended when people make racist remarks.

I mean that some people see the news or read the newspaper and believe whatever the media says. Like the bombing of the London underground the media framed the muslims for taking responsibility of the explosion. Why? It could be any religion even christianity. Who knows?

I am thinking that they will be rude to us and try to catch us out to see if we are just married for convenience. (We are not - we love each other dearly)

My fiance lives in Tema,Ghana in Africa and he has tried 2 times for a visitor's visa and was denied both times.. the first time was because he didnt have the right documents and the 2nd was because he didnt have proof of strong ties to his country or even documents of it! Now, his mother is selling her land to get money adn he told me that his uncle owns a huge company and all you have to do is go into the embassy with an interview and you pay fees and u can get a visa....?!?! unfortunately i have searched everything adn cant seem to find what he is talking about... is there anyone who knows of this sort of thing where u dont need an interview with a officer in the embassy and all you have to do is go inside of the embassy and pay fees alot of money and u will be given a visitor's visa? i am soo comfused and want 2 meet my future husband.. can anyone help me???? pleaseeeeeeeee.

I have a sibling who traveled out side the united states, she is only a permenent recident, when she was there on family matters her residence card expired, now she cant re-enter the United States. Is there a form in immigration that can grant you to re-enter the united states?? Please answer it is important:) thanks
