If anything the issue of illegal immigration has forged an unlikely alliance of Americans regardless of race and gender. This includes legal immigrants that waited in line to come here legitimately.
We all recognize what the ramifications are for allowing illegals to stay here, because they have done so much to paralyze true civil rights issues, depressed wages and crimes committed against Americans have gone literally unpunished by authorities.
We all stand to loose if Congressman Corwyn's H 1B bill passes. Many more High Tech jobs will go to illegal aliens, more illegal aliens will be allowed into the country, diminish wages for Americans that already cannot pay their bills and would allow amnesty for those already here that have committed a plethora of crimes, fraud, identity theft, bank fraud to name a few..By the way there has been a huge increase in the number of legitimate Americans filing bankruptcy and loosing their homes because of the decreases in pay and benefits. Others have lost much, because of identity thefts.
It seems our elected officials are the ones with NO CHARACTER and don't do the will of the people but only represent large corporations that sell Americans out!

Good way to put it,because it's not race that's dividing the issue it's attitude. When you have people coming into the country you call home, using none of the legal procedures, working jobs under the table to avoid detection taxation etc, destroying social services by using what they did not pay the taxes to support, lowering wages by working for much lower wages than Americans can due to the much lower standard of living they choose to accept, refusing to even attempt to fit into the society by learning the language or living up to the most basic standards in the neighboorhoods they make home, and there is more which is done every day by illegal immigrants that they should not be surprised by the tension caused. No American wants immigrants refused entry, they want legal immigration,by people who are required to follow the same rules we are so that they don't come in and damage what our ancestors spent their lives building. Many illegals seem to want to turn America into the country they came from, especially latin american immigrants who have this idea that this is their country by right. If they want to come here and make a better life for themselves that's great, but we won't allow them to do it by destroying America and turning it into Mexico, if Mexico was so great that they want to recreate it across the border why are they here?

It has nothing to do with race. Anyone using the race card on the illegal immigration issue is marching to a different agenda of fear to scare the US population. We tolerate all races as best we can in the USA. The subject of illegal immigration has forced the American public to stand up and say enough ! We will not stand by while people come to this country illegally to take from us without at least trying to become a citizen. The countries from which these people come have the issue to solve not us.

Anytime a town or city is swamped with foreigners (legal and illegal) it is cause for concern especially when they are lowly educated. This is the demographic pattern also in the better developed countries in S E Asia. Immigrants do not divide the existing races further - religion, cultures and even governments are the bigger culprits in segregating races.

I think the war on terror has divided the races. Before that, illegal immigration wasn't as big of an issue as it is today. This issue has pit Mexicans against White Americans and they both resort to immature-ish means to get their point across. A great source of entertainment for Osama bin Laden.

It is not a race issue, it is an American issue. Americans are just trying to keep their jobs, and communities and families safe.
Obviously Illegal immigrants are causing tension in the US. Not speaking English, taking away jobs, not obey US laws, etc etc etc

I think in the US it has. The topic has caused a great rift between blacks and Latinos, and very often when "illegal immigrant" is used they talk about Mexicans and Mexican culture despite the fact that there are undocumented immigrants from all countries. People often criticize migrant laborers as leeches and say it is to keep terrorists out. We have heard of few advocates for immigrants from the Asian communities, despite the amount of immigration (legal and illegal) from Asia.

Naturally it would be the race that is doing the immigrating. It has been that way since the beginning of time. You only have to refer to your history books. It is not so much the race but the ethnic group that we as humans have a hard time accepting into land that we claim as or own. Fear is terrible.

No particular race has caused any tension, the ILLEGAL ALIENS who are breaking our laws and those of the United Nations are causing the tension.
