Immigration - July 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

On July 10, the Senate passed a bill to provide $100 million in microloans for the poorest regions of Mexico. It's stunning that Congress would vote to provide financial aid to wealthy Mexico when 47 U.S. states have severe budget deficits and federal red ink is the highest ever.

Anyone know?

I think when Our Government sends money--we should also demand accountability for every dollar on both sides.
I hear we send millions yearly. How come the people don't see it or do they? What is wrong that both the governments put out a report-of how it is spent? What is microloan?

Pro-amnesty forces promote the Ellis Island conceit that illegal immigrants “risk everything for the dream of freedom,” as President Bush put it in his May address. The president’s assessment, while flattering, is not particularly accurate. However lousy the Mexican economy, there are few if any political freedoms enjoyed by Americans that Mexico denies. It is the Yanqui dollar, not untasted freedom, that brings the vast majority of illegals here. “The dream that most of us hold on to is the Mexican dream,” Efrain Jimenez, an official with the Federation of Zacatecan Clubs of Southern California, told me last year. “The Mexican dream is to make enough money to go back and own your own business. Four-fifths of Mexicans here would say that if they had a job in Mexico, they’d go back right away.” Most Mexican immigrants do not intend to become Americans; they come wanting to return to their home country, but end up staying out of inertia. They naturalize at half the rate of Asians or Europeans. This is not a recipe for assimilation.

Cheap Labor ?

Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business don't want to pay a decent wage,
consumers don't want expensive produce,
Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs
but the bottom line is cheap labor.

The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie.
There is no such thing as "cheap labor."

Take, for example, an illegal Mexican who sneaks in here with his wife and five children.
He takes a job for five or six dollars an hour.
At that wage with six dependents he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year if he files income tax he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent,
He qualifies for food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

And most importantly it is RACIST to basicaly say that mexicans are like the "help".

The Native Americans don't really complain about the way America is, but the pro-illegal movement is all up their butt about " the white man" taking their land .

Do the Native Americans ever get pissed about people that start yapping for them, when it is none of their buisness ?

NOTE : My great grand mother, was a Native American , not that means anything to me.

There are so many of you who are saying that immigrants are living off the government and using welfair and health care bennefits (Hexador04) this is mostly directed tward you... my husband is an immigrant, we are working with INS, he doesnt even qualify for health care bennefits or food stamps or any kind of government help. My kids and my self have medical asst. but my husband can't have it because he is from a different country. so to all of you who say that immigrants are living off of our government, you don't know what you are talking about. Immigrants arent even alowed to use thease bennefits!!

First just let me say I'm 13 and I don't know the whole "Politics" thing.Ok now here is my question:
How come people don't want them here and claim their taking their jobs? And these jobs include what most people wouldn't want to do (Ex: cleaning toilets). Are you people just being lazy and racist cause they get jobs just like that? I mean somebody has to do these jobs that normal people wouldn't want to do. Once again I'm only 13 so don't get all harsh on me.

Native Americans received land (a minimal reparation but still a reparation) that are not subject to many federal or state laws. An example would be casinos and another is the use of drugs for religious reasons.

So technically, PANCHA is correct.

You protect your property right? Let's say for example that your neighbor or just someone living down the street was having a really tough time with money, they have kids who they can't feed, they are going to loose their house and all belongings, but most importantly they are going to starve.....they pick you because they can see that you have alot of nice things in your yard, a nice car ect...they come over and say that they will work for you, wash your car, mow your lawn, clean your house ect... all only for a few meals, ARE YOU GOING TO TURN THEM AWAY?? only because they are on YOUR property??

I know (for sure) that none of my ancestors killed "indians",why should I still have to support them. Why should the ancestors of "indians" be given "reparations"?Why don't they assimilate?

I mean no offense.

It appears that many Americans were pushed over the edge when they saw illegals protesting in American and waving the Mexican flag. Americans also appear to be more and more anti-illegal as illegals make more demands on our government. I think that illegals are the ones who stepped up this mass movement to end illegal immigration. How dare they come here illegally, for whatever reason, and make demands? I believe that the more demands they make, the more angry Americans will get.

Where will it end? Do illegals REALLY believe that Americans will tolerate people not learning English?

2006-07-16 15:48:58 · 24 answers · asked by Yes & No 3

those that have come here illegally? Just think, these people are living and working next to you. Breeding anchor babies as fast as their wombs will spew.
Or is it their clumsy, foolishness when trying to justify how they are illegal by waving other countries flags, showing up with masks in public, joining groups like La Raza who's sole purpose is as their motto illustrates "For The Race (Hispanics) everything, for all other nothing!"
Sounds pretty scary to think these kinds of racists ignoranmuses, are trying to join our society regardless of what they may be here for.
Note the extreme anger and frustration demonstrated by the illegals and pro illegals in their answers here on this site. If this isn't WAR or soon to be one, I don't know what you may call it! It seems to me they are acting like they sense the end is near. They fear the Minute Men and all that support them.
Maybe I should send those guys a few more $$$$$. They apparently have the correct idea to remove illegals.

It seems that a person that was born and bred here in America cant get the help and assistance from our government they need. But yet if an immigrant comes to live in this country they can get loans to start a business, get food and housing assistance and the list goes on. Do you think that for 1 minute if You and I move to another country, their government would help us get started? *ELL NO!

If you sent them all home, who will do their jobs? I see an awful lot of people on this site wanting the removal of all illegal immigrants. If this happened would it have a detremental effect on the US economy.

Remember this is a question, not a political view. I am not pushing a view either way.

Why would you rather argue that it is ok to be illegal, rather than apply for citizenship, or a work visa before you come (this requires a employer to be promising to give you a job) or if you are already here and doing something productive a FREE ACLU lawyer can easily gain you citzenship?

2006-07-16 15:15:58 · 27 answers · asked by jjissodamngreat 4

I can't ! I speak English and 5 dialects of Spanish I have a collage education and score extremely high on tests. I'm here illegally because it's impossible to get a green card. Visas are also hard for those without the money. I could marry but would that be fair to her or me? Still no guarantee. The likelihood of me going home and living are very slim. I know you don't care maybe because you can't or don't want to believe we try to make it where we come from.

Why is everyone so mad about immigration? Look at it this way. Most of the US from europe origins, from families who wanted a better life all those years ago.The way travel was,it has only made it possible in the last century. Most of the UK origins from the rest of europe too.
Nowadays people earn more money and want a better life for themselves and for their families and if that means relocating to another country,so be it.Put it this way,if I lived in a third world country,I would want to move. And with so many people also on poor wages too they will risk their life to seek a new life.
I think it is a compliment that so many people want to move to the west (or far east/oz).Where the problem lies is policing/educating these people when they get here.
