Same boat! IT SUCKS!! I consider myself lucky, because atleast I have a case. But at the same time, no different from people in the same situation. I speak English better then I do Spanish, been here my entire life, I have never even seen Mexico, done community service for years, clean record, graduated with 3.5, attending college majoring in the Criminal Justice, I consider myself a good person. So why have I been waiting 6 years now to get perminant residency, y ?cuz the immigration system is so disorganized, loop holes every where and that's why something needs to be done. Money doesn't matter, getting a visa, is difficult, there is a waiting line that could go around the Earth! My lawyer told me, I still have about 6 more years to wait. 6 YEARS!!
For those who are born here and have kids, let me send one of your kids to a country he/she is not familiar with, doesn't speak the language and knows no one, lets just see what happens, lets see if he/she lives a happy life, knowing that there is no way back home cuz it's not aloud, and only a phone call will be the closest thing to ever get them to their family. It's unfair, inhumane and that's what happens when one who is brought here from another country when young, raised in the United States and only speaks English. That is what happens when an illegal gets deported just cuz they were cought working without a green card, or something trying to survive. That unfairness is what is felt, it effect everyone who knows that person and that is why immigrants are fighting for justice.
So NO I Can't go home, to me this country, the U.S. is My HOME.

I won't speak for others, but I don't want any "illegals" to go home. I want you to stay, work and contribute. Why? Becuase we need you and you need us. Its that simple. If it were up to me (and most honest Americans, I might add) immigration would be as simple today as it was hundreds of years ago. If you are here or want to come here, fine. Just get an education of some kind and contribute to the progress of this society, of this country. It sounds to me like you fit right in, and are not a problem to anyone. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Its just, the people (currently) running this government are up for re-election this year and this is the only way they can win-- by bringing to the surface issues that are designed to drive a wedge between the voters. Basically, they're using you and threatening you because by doing so, they can score some cheap and petty political points in their party.

I understand what you are saying. What country are you from? People here don't understand that some country's are so bad that you would rather take your chances entering the USA illegally than stay home. And YES it is hard to get a green card or a visa! It is REALLY expensive!! Just keep your head up buddy. Many people are on your side!!

I'm assuming it is the USA that you want to get into. Have you considered other countries? There are some nice places around that would be easier for you to get into. What about Australia or New Zealand for example?
Is it Spain that you come from? Your situation sounds serious as your life could be endanger if you return. If you can marry as a way of gaining legal status to get into the USA then I say take that opportunity. It may not be the perfect answer but its better than facing possible death by returning home.
Good luck mate!!

So, what do you want? A medal? Your people come here illegally by the millions, driving the wages down of everyone here, but you want us to cry a river for your situation? Grow up. Your country has done nothing to improve it's economy because of corruption at all levels of society, so we're supposed to take you in, pat you on the back and say, "That's okay, Paco...you can take my kid's place in school, you can take my job, you can drive my health insurance up, you can degrade my neighborhoods." Jesus. If you're so frigging smart, go back home and start a revolution, for Chrissakes.

I was just reading about telecommuting jobs and there were piles of companies that needed things translated but didn't have to have the translator sitting in their office. There are plenty of places where intelligent and skilled people do work for us here, without being here. We call that offshoring. Look for some of those companies that do business back where you came from. You will be able to legally work for businesses here, while you are there. The links won't get you directly there, but they will give you ideas about the places to look.

No, you are not here illegally because it's impossible to get a green card. You are here illegally because you crossed a border without permission to enter the US.
I have great compassion for the people who are here illegally. But you didn't get my permission either.

Sounds like you have some things to work out real quick. My friend went to Canada because she could not go home to Pakistan. She was in the same situation as you are.

Well you could do the same thing to get back like you did coming over here. That would be a start. Plus if you're that educated you should be back helping your fellow countrymen.
