Pancha, actually I rather enjoy the native revenge on the gringos who go and dump their greenies at the casinos! like Flying Eagle said up there on the post, what goes around comes around; just don't know why he doesn't apply the rule of univeral wisdom to the Mexicans who got screwed. they need a few casinos with live mariachis, too, what do you say?

Well, since 3 of my great-grandparents are Native-American, I must say this : Because they deserve them (reparations). The Narragansetts have been trying to build a casino in RI for years now and the "establishment" always manages to kill their plans. When they were selling tax-free Marlboros on Indian land (Richmond) the State Police stormed in just like the Gestapo (they beat up a woman who was 5 months pregnant). So I will repeat myself if I may, Native Americans deserve every bit of reparations they can get ! Even though technically they migrated over the Behring Strait, they were here first, they are the original Americans. How were they supposed to assimilate ?

Pancha, the United States government has a branch which is named the Bureau of Indian Affairs. If you care to go to the website you may become aquainted with the truth of the situation. Do some research before you go trying to equate the generational genocide of the truly indigenous peoples of this land to the criminal invasion by yours.
We still have the gun, the stock broke a week later, so we repaired it with some rawhide. The lighter was a cheap one made in mexico, so we threw it down on the prairie for some pilgrim to find. It looks like we got the best of that trade too.
Beware of Natives bearing gifts, you may get something of value to someone.

I am a Native American (Cherokee) and even I don't know what the heck you are talking about.

I think 'James P' gave you a VERY good answer. Not true but a good answer.

We Native Americans make our own way in this our native land as we always have. In very few instances have we ever even been paid for our own land, much less anything that you call reparations. As always, now and in the past, "white man speak with forked tongue". Which really means; "The white man speaks in a way that can not be understood"

Because the government has legally binding contracts to do just that. I swear ignorant people such as yourself have zero understanding of the deals the US govt. made with "Native Americans".

Knowing how you pro-illegal "mexican" alien people think, I suppose you think the govt. should take away the tiny amount of land/money/goods it traded to Natives in return for..well...America..and give it to illegal immigrants.

For the most part what the govt. gives to Natives isn't "reparation", any more then paying rent to your landlord is paying him "reparations". When you see a N8ive with money don't assume it came from some welfare type check from the govt. (like many of the racist "mexicans" i've come across do). Nope nope. It comes from these things we call "casinos". They produce "revenue". I don't get ANY money from the govt. And whatever benefits the govt. gives to my tribe, i'm MORE THEN SURE it's cost is offset by the tax revenues made by people living on the land that was ceded by my tribe.

I am in Arizona...just one example of assimilation is speaking English. A huge number of "Indians" live in Arizona...i have met countless tribal members from many different tribes...i have never met one that didn't speak English fluently. Also..on your idea that they don't assimilate...I think you would be very surprised at the number of "Indian" homes that proudly fly the American flag.
I know (for sure) that none of my ancestors killed "Indians" also. The government of America gives aid to nations other than the sovereign nations of "Indians". You are also supporting nations like north Korea when America gives food aid to that country. So...why should you still have to support them?..well..really you don't "have" to...you can leave America. But as long as you are here you should abide by the law and give your money via taxes to the government and support via assimilation to America.

Excellent point. It's the same with Blacks who want reparations. I never owned a slave nor did I ever kill an Indian. If everyone got reparations for a governmental wrongdoing to all nationalities in the past, we would all be getting a check.

The reason Americans give special allowances to the aboriginal tribes precluding them, they didn't evolve here so they aren't 'native' in my opinion, is because America is one of the few countries with a guilt conscience.

If a minority whines loudly enough in America, it is coddled and protected like a crack baby.

America needs to grow a pair and start telling whiny minorities and their liberal sympathizers to STFU.

Does Italy pay the rest of Europe for Roman aggression? How about France paying Europe for Napoleon's conquests? Mongolia owes the world a boatload for Genghis Khan. The Black Death originated in Asia, shouldn't Asians owe the Europeans for all of the people killed? Britain should pay large sums to the Canadian Indians, the South African tribes, the Australian aborigines and the people of India. Germany and Japan owe the world for WWII,
and ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC.

Everyone racial group and nationality has crapped on someone else during history.

America's difference is that we feel guilty about and feel like we need to make reparations to everyone.

My husband is Native, as you know and he gets nothing from the government.

But if anyone deserves reparations, its the Native Americans, who were systematically slaughtered by the hundreds and had everything taken from them, including their children who were forced to go to boarding schools where they were severely punished for speaking their language, having long hair, or practicing their religion or culture. EVERYTHING was taken from them. They have almost been wiped off the face of the earth. You don't support Natives, you support illegal Mexicans and you damn well know it.

As usual, you are just being spiteful.

Poor Pancha, still trying to justify illegal immigration. Nothings working out is it, Panch? Even that wedge you're trying to drive into the diverse people of the USA just won't work. Like I said before we are the "UNITED" States of America and "UNITED" we stand. We have LEGAL Americans, native Americans(born here), Native Americans (Indians), African Americans, Asian Americans, All kinds of people from all countries and we are LEGAL AMERICANS. The issue is 'illegal entry into the USA'. It is against the law, plain and simple. Even our most backwoods redneck or hillbilly could understand that. Ah, but Mexicants, CAN'T.

no body owns anything. They traded nothing, they were fought and beaten.

I guess American ancestors still feel ashamed of what was done to the native Americans, that and killing millions of them, and making move through the harsh winter causing the great trail of tears.
