President Bush and Vice President Cheney have broken many laws, lied to Congress and the people and many other things that should at least be investigated. It is mandated in the Constitution that they do so, yet they refuse and turn a blind eye to continuous abuses of power and lawlessness. Without action, a precedent will be set that such behavior in the White House is acceptable. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Constitution was designed to protect us from that, yet the pres. calls it a gd piece of paper and his attorney general calls it "quaint". So, can the people sue Congress to take action that most of the people want?

Can someone tell me if I've got this right?

The president can appoint federal judgeships to people in the senate. This gives these people a higher salary. And they do what extra? What about US Attorneys? Are they given to senate members?

Am I even making any sense?

As a British person with roots that go back before 1600 in the British Isles, culturally British. My Scottish ancestors fought for this country in various different wars, and helped build Great Britain. Then you look at Britain of today, full of immigrants, both illegal and legitimate together, our Gallant Armed Forces being used to fight a corrupt war for George Bush, the corrupt politics that have taken root, the monarchy being completely useless, need I go on? look at the state of OUR Island, what a mess, it means nothing to be British these days, or am I the only one who thinks like this?

to ban burning the flag in protest?

I think not.

If he were to come back today and see the flag worshiping silliness that is pushing such a proposal, he would probably feel the way Moses did coming down from the mountain to find his people worshiping a golden calf.

“Our whole constitutional arrangements have been odd for over 800 years but they have worked” Lord Onslow, speaking on BBC Newsnight, March 7 2007.

“Gordon Brown’s reference to a written constitution at the 2006 Labour party conference gave hope that, for the first time, the British political system would finally be created on an honest and understandable basis. That is the last unfinished business of British democracy—the British people prising the political rulebook from the closed grasp of the Executive.” Graham Allen (MP for Nottingham North) Hansard, HC, col 406WH, May 22 2007.

My ex and I have joint custody and I have full placement (my son resides with me). In the divorce papers it states that my ex is to come to get my son for winter break not meet in a certain spot, but now ex is bitching saying he shouldn't have to and the spot we chose for pick-up and drop off is still not fair to him. Am I in my rights not to meet him for X-mas since it states it in the paper-work? Same thing for summer break, he wants full month with son, it states on paper work 30 days with respondent, ( no dates or months given) I break it up two week here and two weeks there since he's not around anyway and someone else watches my son. Am I in my rights for this? Thanks to all and sorry it was so long!

We Amercans pay 1/3 of our tax dollars to a wealthy state of Israel, so they can terrorize Palestinians and other Arab countries in the Middle East, and not occupy but STEAL more and more land for free. We can use all that tax money to solve problems here in America like social security, health care etc.. Why are we forced to support a country that many of us don't want to support? I think because our government acts like a communist one and many are Jewish members that are in the government. Just look at Senator Lieberman and Clinton both want to regulate people and control them by force. Congress doesn't do anything for people, they take bribe money and ratify a bill to increase their salary when they don't even do anything to help Americans. The war in Iraq was Bull Sh**, it was only to make sure Israel got its revenge by killing starving children that die everyday in Iraq, while Israel dances the Torah around our tax dollars. What are the various mechanisms by which you might make your views known? In other words, in what ways do citizens influence the political process? Which mechanism would be most effective? Why? What does your answer say about the ability of citizens to initiate change in America's democracy?
