As a British person with roots that go back before 1600 in the British Isles, culturally British. My Scottish ancestors fought for this country in various different wars, and helped build Great Britain. Then you look at Britain of today, full of immigrants, both illegal and legitimate together, our Gallant Armed Forces being used to fight a corrupt war for George Bush, the corrupt politics that have taken root, the monarchy being completely useless, need I go on? look at the state of OUR Island, what a mess, it means nothing to be British these days, or am I the only one who thinks like this?

Sadly nobody seems interested in preserving what is British anymore.
We complain about our small island being flooded by immigrants, someone shouts "Racist!" and we take it.
Our Government makes desicions about our country's future without consulting us and decides to go against our wishes-we take it,
Our country is flooded with muslims, the vast majority of whom are against everything the West stands for, they preach hatred openly in our streets. We complain, again we're branded racist and we take it.
Our government lies, cheats, swindles and grants itself ridiculously large payrises and we take it.
Our country is losing what it means to be British because the public is laying down and allowing it to happen. We have nobody but ourselves to blame.

To be a British is associated with power since at a given time in the past, Great Britain had ruled many countries in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas.

It means we pay too much tax this country is now a rip off....And they wonder ( 1. Brits cannot get a job i wonder why? when there looking at the unemployment's levels and 2. Why they wonder why so many people are in debt?
The country needs to be ran by businessmen not stupid politicians without a clue of what they are doing (Gordon Brown)
This has nothing to do with England but The BBC overspent by 2 billion? there is not even 2 billion houses no where near so how can you overspend that much? And stupid politicians like that are up there voting brown for MP! all he is trying to do is dig himself out the shi* where he put himself from being the chancellor... What a load of crap this country now is

What does it mean to be British?
"what is British............"
I can forsee a future where tomorrows child will be asking the same thing whilst looking through a history book. Having to admit it myself, being British is just that, being buried in a history book along with British tradition and British culture. In 50 years time us Brits will be in the same category as the Aztecs and the Mayans, under the Lost Civilisations section in a library.

As an island people we feel different and because of our country is relatively small in size we have in the past wanted to expand our possessions throughout the world. Times have now changed and we are now a small place in world terms but we remain a purveyor of financial services to the world.
Unfortunately, we have to import most of our goods because we are no longer a manufacturing country.

since Thatcher sold off all our industries we have become a shadow of what we were. but in a way!! that is our own fault. we all got into the habit of buying cheap goods from other country's and would not pay the extra to support our own. i think people are so materially minded nowadays that you can no longer reverse it. i suppose what it NOW! means to be British is to be dependent on all outher countrys for every thing you need. being dependent means you have no power. you just do as your told.

Britain has always been full of immigrants - Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Normans and a host of other peoples since. But so what ?.... ah is it the colour you are talking about ? Does that bother you ?
