Can someone tell me if I've got this right?

The president can appoint federal judgeships to people in the senate. This gives these people a higher salary. And they do what extra? What about US Attorneys? Are they given to senate members?

Am I even making any sense?

The President has the power to appoint officials because it is granted by the constitution.
