Government - June 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Government

Are you an American Citizen? Do you trust your own government? To always do what is correct and truthfull? To ensure that your rights as a fellow citizen are always well protected? And that in times of hardship and times of need that your American government will always be there for you to make sure you don't starve on the streets?

I'll start by saying that I used to have faith in government. But up until recently I've lost all faith in government and I really don't like bureacracy.

I want to know, if you do have faith in government. Then why?

That's my boyfriends theory. He thinks the govt. is hiding it because they don't have enough money to make enough of it and people would go crazy to get at it. He thinks that's how Magic Johnson is still alive, because money talks. I'm not sure if I agree or not, but am sure the government must be hiding a lot of sh*t from the general public that most of us wouldn't believe.

narrow it to 2 term per person and that way they will not have a career.
And even people who are not lawyers can be up there as well.

I mean, all this 'helping the family' and making families the main priority, and making marrage more important in todays society, and yet everything the chancellor has done has stopped that. It is now more beneficial to be a single parent, than to get married. Councils encourage people to give up their job so they can be given a council house, and the country is now paying more tax, and getting no better services.

So, what has he done, exactly, that has been good for this country?

This can be one of the things that gets Bush and Cheney impeached and removed from office. This is in violation of the Constitution. The laws apply to all elected officials.

White House of Mirrors

President Bush has turned the executive branch into a two-way mirror. They get to see everything Americans do: our telephone calls, e-mail, and all manner of personal information. And we get to see nothing about what they do.

Everyone knows this administration has disdained openness and accountability since its first days. That is about the only thing it does not hide. But recent weeks have produced disturbing disclosures about just how far Mr. Bush’s team is willing to go to keep lawmakers and the public in the dark.

That applies to big issues — like the C.I.A.’s secret prisons — and to things that would seem too small-bore to order up a cover-up.

Why is it that people who question the " Official Version " of September 11th are called names such as wacko, nut-case,
conspiracy theorist, etc. ? Does having questions make one crazy ? Why do so many people believe that we must be sheep, and go right where we are led ? If that were the case, this country would never have declared independence from England.

This is how they made it illegal in the UK. Christian preachers have been arrested in the UK for reading anti-gay scripture out of the Bible. Is this the hidden agenda?

Freedom of religion is in the Constitution. This includes Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Buddhists. You cannot make it illegal to believe in scripture and also have freedom of religion. So which is it?

I think so the fundamental principle of a democracy is doing the will of the people. John Locke said that governments rule at the consent of the governed so would this not be violating our nations social contract. After all for years we as Americans have talked about how great we are as a nation because of the power of the people and our separation of powers. This seems to be slipping to the way side in way of oh lets say the patriot act, the handling of the war in Iraq, cia prisons, the executive branch condoning torture and not to mention not being elected by popular vote(yes technically ok) but the public has spoken and statments have fallen on deaf ears in favor of "im the decision maker i make decisions" will America continue to be a Gov. for the people or will it slowly slip into a Gov. that just tells us to shut up and listen

Most of us feel one way or another on an issue but do you bother to tell your elected representatives how you feel ? Your representatives need your input to better represent you in Washington.
