A democracy is a system of government where the citizenry has the ability to govern themselves.

A republic is a system of government where an elite group governs in the name of the People.

This seems to be what is happening today in America. An elite group of people have made governing not just their priveledge but their careers. Is it true then, that we have a democracy when the Electoral College is still in effect and a popular vote can be overturned by the Supreme Court?

I mean, it seems like a stupid question, because of course the President has the same rights as every other American citizen. But wouldn't right-wing presidents such as George Bush go ahead and exercise that right (which, as far as I know, they don't)?

There is a recent, very extensive second hand smoke study and it clearly states "That there is no evidence that second hand smoke harms ANYONE" They do not release that information to the public because of the government agenda to control the population!! It is all a lie they are promoting to hide the real truth. Toxic chemicals in our food and water!! This is the real truth!!

Well there's some recent news that Dick Cheney doesnt believe that he is a part of the executive branch because occasionally he's a tie breaker in Congress. Although it clearly says in the Constitution that the Vice President is part of the executive branch. My logic is, he's not in the Supreme Court so he's not in the judicial branch. He's not a senator or representative, so he's not in the legistlative. Therefore he's obviously in the executive, unless he thinks that he suddenly has the power to create his own 4th branch. Anybody want to possibly explain how Cheney can possibly think he's not part of the executive branch?

New study from Pilots for 9/11 Truth: No Boeing 757 hit the Pentagon 21 Jun 2007 (PRWEB) Pilots for 9/11 Truth obtained black box data from the government under the Freedom of Information Act for AA Flight 77, which The 9/11 Report claims hit the Pentagon. Analysis of the data contradicts the official account in direction, approach, and altitude.

The plane was too high to hit lamp posts and would have flown over the Pentagon, not impacted with its ground floor.

This result confirms and strengthens the previous findings of Scholars for 9/11 Truth that no Boeing 757 hit the building.

Iraq revives Saddam oil deal with China
By Jamil Anderlini in Beijing and Steve Negus, Iraq, Correspondent
June 23 2007 03:00 - Financial Times http://tinyurl.com/2od2r6

Baghdad has revived a contract signed by the Saddam Hussein administration allowing a state-owned Chinese oil company to develop an Iraqi oil field, the Iraqi oil minister told the Financial Times in Beijing yesterday.

Hussein al-Shahristani also said Baghdad welcomed Chinese oil company bids for any other contract in the country through a "fair and transparent bidding process" to be laid out in the new oil law under discussion in Iraq's parliament.

China National Petroleum Corporation, the country's largest oil company and the parent of listed group Petrochina, signed a deal with Iraq in 1997 to develop the al-Ahdab oil field. The field is one of the first to be offered to foreign investors since the 2003 US-led invasion.

That is, instead of a single judge. My position on this issue is that it is unconstitutional for a single judge to make rulings on cases nullifying the votes of millions of people in a state-wide refererendum. I consider this in unconstitutional and is a form of tyranny. I realize that sometimes a single judge has to make a ruling initially, and then the case can work its way up. However, there have been federal judges such as Mariana Pfaelzer ( a Jimmy Carter appointed judge) from California who nullified Proposition 187 which passed in 1994 receiving five million votes. Pfaelzer struck down this proposition making it permanently inoperative. I believe that a single judge should not be able to block such a proposition with the stroke of a pen.
I appreciate any opinions you may have on this subject. Please include in your answer your reasons for agreeing or disaggreeing with my opinion. Thanks!
