We've been told that we have a "right to privacy".
I've never seen it in print. Related rights, yes.

Not a right to privacy.

If you do something in public, expect it to be seen.

If you play loud obnoxious music in public, expect people to stare at you. You are drawing attention, why be surprised?

If you go through areas that have sensitive data near them, are targets for enemies of the United States (or whatever government you have), or otherwise are the domain of the government to protect, expect to have said records looked at and recorded.

We do not have a right to privacy. I have nothing to hide from my government. Do you? Why? What do you have to hide? It's not pleasant to have that argument turned around (what does the government have to hide...? etc.), but it's an apt question. We expect the government to reveal national secrets publicly in front of all our enemies, yet we whine that they observe our public dealings.

That's hypocritical.

Enough with the Big Brother scare. It's fiction, worth watching out for, worth bringing up. But let's not spread unfounded rumors for the sake of an adrenalin rush, shall we? It's called, "being at war". Until Islam embraces the West, expect it to last for a while.

UPDATE: Here's the questioner's idea of an appropriate response to my answer. It's in the wrong place, so I repost it here for you to see. I like free speech. Reveals a lot about a person:

Are you looking for a reward for being Governments biggest suckazz ? You tryed to turn a simple statement of mine into a political argument and even had the nerve to say it was hypocritical and that I was affraid and trying to hide stuff from a government that knows everything that would not be hypocritical but stupid OK 2 points for being a bigger roll over than I am but you say your such a patriot but say things like your the one with things to hide and by sucking up you may get a pardon or reward for being the teachers pet half of what you say is a joke and I am glad you stay so close to the political questions and attack others for their views on things that do not coincide with you own.You toot your own horn fairly loud but its out of key.

Amazing, huh? And they say education is going down hill... .
