Dont you republicans agree we need to kick these welfare bums to the curb and make them fend for themselves? Isnt that what you say about those needing a handout?

Why is our country frocing a democracy in Iraq, when our country does not have a democracy at home, its in my opinion being a hypocrite; and also why aren't we in the streets protesting the war which I know some are but that is the minority we need to get the majority to protest not enough to show up in the media and why is the protest aganist the Iraq war not showing up in the media? I thought a democracy was for the people by the people? But now its for the government by the Central Banks. What do you think on this subject matter?

OK this is a question I've been debating with my Canadian friends. Canada is a constitutional monarchy, with the Queen of England as official Head of State. My question is why does Canada retain the GG and the Queen, instead of becoming a republic with its own titular head? PLEASE I'm looking for answers better than "Why not"

Thanks!

i suppose this would also lead to the question does any country own antartica and therefore have exclusive rights to build colonies there? or could anyone just go and found new countries?

the party in power is now responsible for re-drawing the shape of districts. gerrymanders are NOT an endangered species...

is there a better way to do this? who would be responsible?

As everyone is probably by now aware, Friday, February 2, 2007 marks the release of the IPCC's political document: Assessment Report 4, Summary for Policymakers. The media seem to be operating under the misapprehension this is equivalent to the release of IPCC Working Group I Contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report: Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis -- this is regrettably neither true nor even close to the truth.

Bizarrely, the actual report will be retained for another three months to facilitate editing -- to suit the summary! IPCC procedures state that: Changes (other than grammatical or minor editorial changes) made after acceptance by the Working Group or the Panel shall be those necessary to ensure consistency with the Summary for Policymakers or the Overview Chapter (Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work, p4/15) -- this is surely unacceptable and would not be tolerated in virtually any other field.

There are very few men and women in America who believe the Iraq war is not worthy of debate. They are the Republican Members of the United States Senate. Today, they did our country a grave disservice.

Republicans in the Senate voted to tie the hands of Congress and block a debate on the war in Iraq. By voting against a real debate on Iraq, Republicans voted in favor of the President's plan to escalate the war. Numerous Republican Senators are on the record opposing this escalation. Do these Republicans stand with the President or do they stand with the American people?

It seems to hit the people who can least afford it the most -- those with the fewest disposable resources. Of course free will comes into play. But is the government really doing anybody a favor to approve all these casinos popping up all over the place? Does anyone live in a state where you have concrete examples of the good done with all the revenue the lottery generates?

On November 7th, we sent a clear irrefutable message to Congress that we are sick and tired of our Country's image being dragged through the mud, our enemies being emboldened, our tax dollars being wasted, and our soldiers being killed and wounded.

But yesterday, Republicans REFUSED to even debate new appraoches to the Iraq war.

Republicans, you made a GIANT mistake in Iraq, now it is time to listen to the American people.
