Young people have the worst voter turnout of all age groups. If you took that right away a lot of them might not even notice. They are too heavily influenced by the media and campaigns like MTV's "Vote or Die" blitz. Young people are also by and large incapable of seeing the larger picture, rather voting for candidates that represent their views of the moment (hence college students voting for a Dem who promises them more aid money in college, then when they get out and actually make money, they vote for the Republican that pledges to cut taxes on their income and retirement accounts.)

There are some young people, myself included, who would have leaped up and down with joy at the chance to vote in the last elections. Sadly, even though some of my less mature friends could, and did, many of the seniors in my grade were happy to vote, and many of us were severely unhappy with our friends who did not excercise their constitutional right and try to have some say in a government that I am sad to say is not very appealing at the moment. If I had my say, all high school seniors would be allowed to vote because frankly it doesn't matter if you're seventeen or eighteen if you've had that many years of education.

No offense to 18 year olds, but most are to busy drinking and partying to know what is really going on. Keyword-most!
