Senate: **Saddam saw al-Qaida as a big threat By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press Writer.

WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein regarded al-Qaida as a big threat rather than a possible ally, a Senate report says, contradicting assertions President Bush has used to build support for the war in Iraq. The report also newly faults intelligence gathering in the lead-up to the 2003 invasion.

Released Friday, the report discloses for the first time an October 2005 CIA assessment that prior to the war Saddam's government "did not have a relationship, harbor or turn a blind eye toward" al-Qaida operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi or his associates.

As recently as an Aug. 21 news conference, Bush said people should "imagine a world in which you had Saddam Hussein" with the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction and "who had relations with Zarqawi." This proved to be a lie.

Democrats contended that the administration continues to use faulty intelligence. This proves to be true.

I keep hearing Republicans crowing about the fact that we haven't been attacked in since 9/11/2001 and claiming that is proof that we are winning the war on terror.

Who else thinks this is complete nonsense? Do you really think we are safer now than we were then? If so how?

This question is in NO way intended to "start" anything with any countries, as I have the ultimate respect for our allies.

Do you think that our allies (England, Germany, etc.) would feel vunerable (economicaly and security) if the United States was not the world power it is today? Also, do you think the europian union would be as powerful as it is today if it wernt for America?

Please no hate posts, this is a question for educational purposes.

Thanks

I will laugh because they ( Bush and company ) will lose the Iraq war and will look like the fools they are. Shame is coming to the war supporters. Get ready to eat crow.

Basically, we are voting for someone who vote for issues for us. That is where the corruption. Why can't the general public vote for tax increase, cut spending and all the detail. I mean, as general public, we should voice our vote. Everytime we vote, it is just a vote, because policticans abuse their power. I really wish they could set up all the minor items like property tax increase, cut spending in the voting booth instead just of a person...

Look at the judicial system, minior or civil case, the Judge can decide who is wrong. However, when it comes to criminal case, they pick 12 common people to do the jury duty. Why? I mean if general public can decide who is guilty or not, (they won't bother to hire professionals or like vote a professionals to do the judge) can we general public just decide the increase of taxes or cut spending???

p.s. Major issue like WAR doesn't count, but at least in a local government level, small people should be able to voice.

When will this story hit critical mass per se?

In recent Zogby polls and others approximately 36% of Americans believe ther is more to 911 than the government is telling us....about 50% of New York City residents believe the government knew and failed to act. Isn't it time to look at this thing as a whole with an unbiased perspective. I personally am not totally convinced of these theories but I will say that I am not convinced of the so called "official story" which I consider a conspiracy "theory" in itself!!

Oh yea....and I know what you are going to say....I'm a kook ..nut...crazy whatever...we'll my friends...the truth will come out and the truth does matter!

O.K let me explain. As everyone knows when a transportation project is scheduled the state offers contractors to bid on projects, if the project is done early then they get a reward, I have seen this reward to go over 1 million bucks before, but the project I am specifically talking about the reward was 600,000, well the contractor finished 6 months early and the reward was given, but however in this case, the contractor did not do stress tests on the concrete, that is where they test to see if the concrete is strong enough to withstand traffic, by the way this was for a major interstate project, and this compromises the integrity of the road, safety factors anyway. I was so mad to hear that the state is giving this contractor anything, let alone any reward. Tell me what your opinion is. I do not work for this contractor or the state; I am just on the inside and have this from a very good source. I was thinking about contacting the media outlets anonymously and see what happens.

I am sick and tired of American arrogance, and them thinking they are the saviours of the world. They are not.
They joined both world wars late, and then claimed to win them for Europe.
They invade innocent countries, using ridicilous reasons, when we all know that OIL is the key.
They dropped a uclear bomb on a n inncoent causing centuries work of damage.
They are racist pigs.
Sorry to generalise, of course I dont mean all Americans, but I am merely stating the mindset of many americans.
