Here in California for instance we have Donner Lake, Eagle Lake, Buck's Lake, Clear Lake, Folsom Lake and also Lake Tahoe, Lake Oroville, Lake Mendocino, Lake Berryessa and Lake Shasta.... does not seem to be any rhyme or reason - man-made and two-syllable names does not fit either - anyone know?
