I truly believe that the biggest threat to the US is itself.
Short-sighted economic policies, isolationism, unilateral actions, internal censorship, secrecy...so many factors are threats to the US. We need to become a stronger country by opening our doors to different thoughts, supporting the independence, strength and positive growth of other countries (that's supporting, not dictating). If we become a positive, neutral, and peaceful country, we will encounter fewer threats from others. Granted...peace will not always be possible. But we should be more cautious than we have been about going to war.

CHINA and not Iran, Iraq and all the places that are for now made to look like trouble. Think abaout it: it is China which has manpower, nuclear power, conventional military power and more!!!!! It can really be a threat in the future not only to America but to the whole world. It is already a threat to the world of trade and economy within Europe and other regions!

I'll be a sheep and go with China, but I belive it is more likey to be an Arab crounty as if a Terrisist killed 100 civillians but a war killed 100 army men people would take more notice of the civillians, I think as USA as the most powerful crounty should deal more bruitly with terrisom by going stight to war with the crounty I use to belive a Terrist was a Freedom fighter and I was insupport of the E.T.A in Spain as Euskura's have been supressed by Spanish too long but after 9/11 and all the bombing's I no longer belive this as arab crounty's do not need freedom from USA they are just stupid arabs who should all be exuctued just because there smelly and USA should give soap to them

I agree in part with China though if we play our cards right the economic benefits are great. Beyond China there are several other countries and regions which threaten US national interests. These include but are not limited to: N. Korea, Iran, DRC, Myanmar, the former Yugoslavia countries, Columbia, Afghanistan, and Russia. We can debate points on each but in terms of economic interest and other globalization/stability aspects these areas are or can become critical with regards to our interests and foreign policy.

An actual country causing a threat? North Korea.
The real threat? The "war on terror" convincing US citizens to relinquish their rights in exchange for greater government oversight and "security".

The apathy of the people and their willingness to accept what those in power tell them without question. When the people become either too afraid to question their leadership and allow them to dismember the constitutional basis upon which this country was founded, or so dependant on the government that they are willing to give up their freedoms for their security then they don't deserve to have either!

First Iran, followed shortly by North Korea. Then China will get involved and the world as we know it will be changed forever.

Most likely, China. They've already threatened us if we intervened with their dealing of Taiwan. We're not exactly on their list of favorites.
We're not in the best relationship with France either, but they'll never really be a threat. All you have to do is sneer at them and they'll surrender.
