I would continue reading a book called "my pet goat" upside down for almost 20 minutes. I certainly wouldn't quietly tell the teacher to postpone the book reading because I was the commander in chief of the most powerful country in the world and we were being attacked. I also wouldn't fear for my safety and the safety of the children being hit by another plane? (huh?) You know why ...because I already knew these planes were going to hit the WTC towers and the pentagon this day...you see I was tipped of a while ago by George Tennet of the CIA and others! In fact I knew because Egypt, Israel and Russia warned our state department that the attacks were eminent. I also had plans already to attack Afghanistan, and Iraq. Not only that I had the Patriot Act already to fly before the attacks of 911( check this out...it is totally true) . So you see....The reason I didn't act like I was surprised was that it was all set up for me in advance. Oh yea I had a shadow government in place and my real boss Dick Cheney was in control of war game scenarios at the time to mock the real attacks so not even our military would know what was really happening... Brilliant plan! Too bad people are catching on!!
Now go to this site and check this out

I sure as hell would not keep reading a book about a pet goat. for another 25 minutes. Where the hell are these goons suddenly getting this 7 minute BS from? I saw the video from the school, he was there for 25 sodding minutes shittting his pants.
I have just been told that america is undere attack and I am not supposed to scare a few children? WHAT? Since when has a class of children come before the national security of the United States? ARE YOU CRAZY PEOPLE? Bush has spent the 5 years since 911 trying his best to scare the bejeziz out of everyone with largely bogus claims of terrorism and WMD proliferation, and he shouldn't have scared a few kiddies? BULL!!!!
So Al Queda is attacking you and you put the temporary psychological welfare of a few children before your duty and the national security of the United States? Bush don't care about the thousands of children that have been blown to peices in his wars.
If this is how you think you should react you get a big fat F in leadership.
As soon as Andy Card had told me, "Mr President America is under attack" I would have immediately insisted on returning to Washington DC to take control of the situation from there, I would not have fled chicken sh!t around the country for another 8 hours. As commander in chief I would have been in immediate contact with NORAD (en route to Air Force one and to the entire Military apparatus of the USA.
I would have ordered any military drills underway (There were 5) to be immediately halted and ordered that the Military be put on full alert.
The air defence systems would have been immediately tasked with finding all other aircraft that may have been off course to be shot out of the sky.
I would also have been sure to put a cordon around Washington DC and the Whitehouse, the Capitol and the Pentagon. There is no way in hell the pentagon would have been hit. There is no way in hell, with the technology at America's disposal, that the pentagon should have been hit by anything 80 minutes after the attacks started.
If that had failed, the Secretary of Defence and the head of NORAD would have been immediately fired and tried with criminal neglicence or homicide.
The National Security advisor would have been fired for not taking the very clear warnings in the months prior to the attack seriously.
I would have made wide sweeping changes to my cabinet as clearly I was kept out of the loop on that day. I would also be asking some serious questions of the secret service.
The secret service are tasked with keeping the President safe and at the first sign of trouble, their job is to grab the President and bundle him to safety. I would have been at a highly publicised event within a very small flying time from international Airports.
How did the secret service know that The President would not be targeted at a school visit? The fact that they left Bush sitting reading a book to children for half an hour after they knew america was under attack is at the least a serious dereliction of duty and at worst a blatant sign of an inside job.
America would have been safer that day if I were in charge. And heads would have rolled for the failings of the air defence system.

I'd jump up and run out of the room. Then I would pull my shirt off, revealing my skin tight outfit underneath, and fly towards Washington D.C. Then I would use my superstrength to stop the plane that hit the Pentagon, and then I would fly as fast as I could to save United 93 as well. Then I would spin the world around backwards and turn back time so I could save the victims of the World Trade Center.
Or I could sit and contemplate what to do as my previously planned directives were executed by those underneath me. That's what the President does.

It doesn't help Bush's case that he looks so gormless!
However, he is/wasn't THE GOVERNMENT.
Possibly he should have nipped out to check the situation, but Bush was supposed to be good at having a good team around him to sort out the situation. Sadly, Cheney and Rumsfeldt are way past their sell by date and way too inflexilbe and pigheaded.
Compare Margaret Thatcher's reaction after she'd nearly been killed by Irish Terrorists in the Brighton Bombing. She got a new set of clothes and handbag (very important that! ;-) ) was calm, didn't stoke up fear and hysteria or a witch hunt against the Irish and left the job of catching the petty criminals to the police and security forces. It would help if there was a decent security surveillance system with some arab speakers in it!
The fight against terrorism is badly named a war on terror and is unlikely to be won quickly, especially by giving in to terrorists by a crappy propaganda war and letting the response to terror by making us more of a police state, be far worse for us than the terror was in the first place.
3,000 odd people dying was sad, but the reaction was disproportionate, hamfisted and WORST has made things worse rather than dealing with the real issues and problems.

I would probably have been involved in the planning, so I wouldn't be at all surprised. I'd probably carry on listening to a primary school kid reading a story about her pet goat, knowing that there were no planes involved at all, but that the mind-control system was working well, and that now I would be able to further my own private agenda by attacking Afghanistan and Iraq.

I think he acted appropriately. How many of you have had your child telling you something and in the mean time you were thinking of something else altogether? He didn't want to scare the children and in the 7 minutes or whatever it was he had time to calmly think about what must be done immediately. I think being in that situation forced him to react more rationally then if he had been told while at the white house he would have reacted quicker and possibly made a lot of mistakes.

I would have been proactive not reactive and had a better foreign policy before hand.
Secondly although I understand the shock and tragedy of the attacks, the aggressive, unthought out policy of revenge has been ineffective and untargeted.
It heightened tensions and has led to further terrorist attacks and a global war being fought out in Iraq.
Not the best move.

How was one suppose to react to such a catastrophic event?? George W had the decorum not to react in front of a room full of young children, waited until the visit was over, walked out quietly and conferred with his staff. What was he suppose to do? No one ever suspected an attack of this magnitude. And before you start spouting off on George W, how could anyone have known what to do? I mean the entire government was scrambling to come up with a game plan. It was hours before they could even confirm what had actually happened at the Pentagon. My cousin, may he rest in peace, was one of the many who died that day. Michael Allen Noeth, Navy Draftsman, 2ND class. We love and miss him every day.
All that would of's, could of's, and should of's in the world won't change what happened on that tragic day.
And last but not least... Let us not forget who is really to blame for this tragedy and scores of others... the bleeding heart liberals who oppose racial profiling and supporting our governments efforts to keep us safe. We can no longer afford to be a "melting pot" country. The time has come to shut our borders to the countries in the Middle East, cut off all financial support to Islamic countries, bring our soldiers home safely, and let the bastards kill each other.

I would be stunned at first, but then I would announce that I had just been notified of an emergency and I had to leave immediately. I would apologize for not having time to stay and answer quetions, and would assure the audience that everyone would be notified as soon as possible of what was going on. Then I would go and do what needed to be done.

I would hope I could act as responsibly and calmly as GW did--thinking back to when I saw the 2nd plane hit the towers, I was in shock--it took an hour or so to sink in...........
