We just finished building our house and went to the post office to ask where our mailbox should go. The postmaster told us across the street next to the neighbor's mailbox. The next day the mail carrier talked to my husband and told him about the neighbor had called the postmaster and was not being very "nice" about it but that we had to put the mailbox there, we had no choice, and we didn't have to ask his permission. On saturday the builder put up our mailbox and a few hours later the neighbour came over ranting and raving about it and threatening to pull it out and all that. That evening, he DID take the mailbox our and leave it next to our house. We spoke to the police about it, they checked on something, I don't know if it was the subdivision plat or what, and said that there was no city easement there and so they couldn't make him let us put the mailbox there. The post office still refuses to deliver our mail unless it's on that side of the street. What to do?

Nope. There are really old stories about multiple gods too! And since your Western religions are based on some really old stories (the Tanakh aka Old Testament) about a particular god (along with a few neighboring gods) there's nothing more compelling about it than there is about the Iliad or the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

I'm so tired of candidates running on canned slogans about what they are going to do about stuff that the presidency just has no control over -- usually because the issue is a constitutionally reserved state power, not a federal one. Example: education.
I realize that Congress can issue funded mandates to states that have to somehow be met, but generally they renege on the funding part and the mandate turns out to be a major fiasco in the end.
What I really want is a candidate who very honestly states what the president CAN do -- i.e. foreign trade agreements, veto legislation, seat supreme court judges, order the army around the globe (and hope that congress will agree), and present the face of America to foreign powers. Is that too much to ask?

After all it is the most important job in America and maybe in the world. Shouldn't we hold the president to the same standards as the American worker or are we willing to take our chances on another president who has possibly damaged his/her mind with cocaine and/or other drug abuse.

Following Ophrah's aggressive endorsement of Obama, Many other black celebrities such as Will Smith, Forest Whitaker, Denzel Washington & a host of others are now coming out to support, endorse & campaign for Obama.----I have not heard of even ONE black celebrity who is endorsing or supporting ANY white Candidate ??????---Surely; this is not merely coincidental & if these black celebrities were really endorsing Obama because of his record & platform, NOT because of his skin color------Wouldn't the " law of averages " dictate that, in all likelihood, at least ONE black celebrity would endorse a white Candidate because they agreed with the Candidate's record & platform ??-- Are there now or do you think there will be ANY black celebrities who wil NOT endorse Obama but WILL endorse a white Candidate ??

How many people have died, or indeed have to die, in order for the democrats to take over the US government?

It's shameful...

I think that it is very disrespectful and a disgrace myself and a little difficult to explain to a small child who asks about it. Regardless of your political views, this is clearly unethical.

Seriously how could this be accomplished without it turning into another Iraq, though probably worse. Our troops are doing triple deployments. Would everyone support the draft? Should we just give Blackwater more money to recruit a whole mercanary army from around the world? We of course dont have that money so we would have to borrow more. Maybe we should raise taxes so we can pay for it instead of our children. Maybe we should just bomb and bomb and bomb them until they behave. Of course terrorists will stay away because its not like a war torn unoccupied country is ripe with angry youth that just need a direction.
So tell me, logically how could it be accomplished? Give me examples I could think about. Enlighten me.
Please dont rant about me being a commie or left wing nut. That helps no one. I am looking for opposing thought out arguments that may help sway my way of thinking on this issue.

Are you okay with our enemies torturing OUR soldiers?

Turnabout is fair play, isn't it? If we think it's okay to torture OUR prisoners, shouldn't we also think it's okay for our enemies to torture the men and women of our military?

A few years ago, they said that Kerry was a "flip-flopper" with no real stance who wasn't a strong candidate, and to an extent, I'll give them that (he didn't really "look" like a great leader).

Yet, there isn't one viable candidate here in the primary race for the entire republican party. I mean, say what you will about Clinton, Obama, & Edwards (which, all you can really say is that they're very well educated & have alot of political experience), but the republicans are banking their 2008 pool on:

a creepy, robot-like, uber-conservative mormon

A fictional TV judge from law & order

A guy who was pretty much dead-last in the runnings until he made the gayest Chuck Norris reference I've ever seen (and I've seen alot of em', those jokes got old 3 years ago)

And the guy who was mayor of NYC when it was attacked, which I'm not sure I'd be proud of (although that's certainly what he's resting his whole campaign on)

So, are the republicans pretty much expecting to loose?

Everyday, we hear on the news about people being killed and so on. Especially in London, people are killed every now and then. Is Capital Punishment really the solution to this issue? What are your suggestions? Should it be re-introduced or not?
