The lesson that the most powerful country in the world should promote peace and stability, instead of war and imperialism.

For all of those people who are anti-gun ownership or believe in strongly restricted ownership...I don't see why you believe this. Please, someone explain to me why you would want to be an advocate of this. All it is is another restriction to our freedoms. Do you really want less freedom? It makes no sense to me why someone would believe in this.

And don't even try to tell me that it will make for a safer society, because it wont. If no one has guns, what is to keep a thief from robbing someone's house or a mugger from jumping someone on the street? Just like nukes...the more there are, the safer the world will be. If you dont believe this, you need to realize that there hasn't been a large war since the atom bomb was invented.

Would requiring illegal immigrants to serve 8 to 10 years military service be a good way to gain citizenship? If I person entered legally they could serve 1 to 4 years unless they had a desirable occupation. (oh and no more anchor babies period.)

France did this in the 1800's and it became known as the Foreign Legion.

I have a neighbor who is building a UGLY, and I mean U-G-L-Y shack in his backyard, and although it's location is up to code, it is still very close to the property line (10 feet) It will surely lower my property value & I'll lose money! I called the city code enforcer and if they can't legally help me, the person I talked to said I could file a civil suit. What kind of civil suit would fit this scenario?

Details of the projects that Bush cited as his reasons for a veto included:

* $3.6 billion for major wetlands and other coastal restoration, flood control and dredging projects for Louisiana, a state where coastal erosion and storms have resulted in the disappearance of huge areas of land;
* nearly $2 billion for the restoration of the Florida Everglades;
* nearly $2 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers to build seven new locks on the upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers;
* $7 billion for various projects related to hurricane mitigation in Mississippi and Louisiana, including assuring 100-year levee protection in New Orleans;
* hundreds of smaller dredging, wetlands restoration and flood control projects across the country.

Should America's foreign policies be directed and driven by fear alone?

- Reagan/Bush 1 supported Saddam and the contras
- Bush 2 supports Musharraf and invades Iraq

All directed and supported by fear. Your thoughts please.

My research into the topic seems to suggest (suprisingly) that classic liberalism broke into two forms, with most of it going to the modern conservatives. Excluding the recent advance of the "new mugged liberal" neocons, conservatives and classic liberals seem to have more in common. Legal egalitarianism and not economic egalitarianism, free trade and not protectionism, Tom Paine style distrust of large government.

Is this accurate or did i miss a party split somewhere?

What is this? When all else fails, play the gender-card? Her plans and her take on most issues is what most people dislike about her, not the fact that she is a half-woman.

Imagine:

- no more Taliban (in Afghanistan)
- no more poppy fields to fund 40% of ALL terrorism
- Afghanistan would be a beacon of success by now
- Al-Q would not have Iraq as a recruiting platform
- Iran would not be seeking nukes (Iraq would not stand for it)
- 4000 US soldiers would be alive
- 30,000 US soldiers would not have been wounded
- 500,000 Iraqi's would be alive
- 2 million Iraqis would not be refugees
- Oil would not be at $96 per barrel
- The US treasury would be a projected $2 trillion heavier
- OBL may have been captured
- The US would have far more moral authority

There are some bad cops, just like there are bad people in all professions but the vast majority are hard working and honest. Local police help to keep our society civil. There are a lot of black on black murders in Philly. There are a lot of domestic disputes that result in murder. Each has it's own problems and solutions. But shoot a cop? Ohmygod! Unless we want anarchy, citizens should be outraged. What do you think?

Do you think all of those people who Alexander conquered wanted to be conquered?

Did the vast numbers that Alexander killed want to be killed?

Hitler is bad, obviously. Why isn't Alexander viewed negatively too?

Hitler didn't just cause Jews to die. 20 million Russians died. That is a LOT of people. So, even if Hitler did not kill Jews, he would still be disgusting. But, why isn't Alexander also disgusting in people's eyes since he killed people?

Here's the facts:
1) I was pulled over for not having front plates, arrested for having a suspended license (not paying a ticket), police office searched my car and found 10 grams of cocaine, I admitted it was mine
2) Was booked into Snohomish County Jail (Washington State), bail was $5,000, I was released the next day by the judge (I believe I was PR'd which I believe means Pre-Trial Release)
3) I believe I was release because it was the first time I've ever been in trouble with the law, they contacted my parents to make sure I could stay there, and I was employed Full-Time

If you could please just give me some resources (websites, books, videos, phone numbers) I would appreciate it. I know I made a mistake, but I am ready to face the consequences I just don't know anything about getting arrested, going to court, drug charges... ANYTHING... I just want to know if there's anything I can do to help my case, or if I can actually count on my clean record to help...
