Sorry....
My wife was a 2 yr probationary govrnment worker (GS-5) in San Diego ca. she was appointed in Mar 07. Today she received a letter of termination for "unsatisfactory work performance ".
In July she received a performance appraisal which states that she is "outstanding", very flexible, and is on her way to the top.
So from 31 July til today (termination) her perfomance has dropped because she has taken on special projects (which her suppervisor lauded her for in her appraisal) which is apparently led to her dismissal.
Of course these conflict, but my question is ...since she was in her probationary period, does she have any rights to fight this? also was she required to get 30 days notice before termination....Her handbook talks at length about appeals, but nothing specifically about termination. Thanks for any help.
She is in a union but has not discussed this with a union rep as of yet. What can she do???
