I'm not talking about legally, but morally. What if they really don't know what the candidates stand for? Should they risk their vote? I know everyone's vote is important, but if they haven't paid any attention to the race and are putting forth a blind vote, is it really any better than not voting at all?

There is a reason to look and listen to some of the materials on candidates, and to watch the debates to see how they posture or not. You need to vote, everything that this government does that pisses you off and effects you is because of your vote. Have a say how you get screwed, and hope that you don't get screwed in the end. And your next vote? Will be better than the one before.

I would like to say they shouldn't, but I do believe as citizens we have a moral obligation to vote. I believe many votes are based upon the perception of a party and they vote party line. The vote is usually based upon how the individual was raised. I think it's a travesty that people don't follow the issues. I was talking to an individual the other day and mentioned the Cold War, they gave me a blank stare and asked what it was and how it was fought. They vote republican. Makes me sick.

What would be the point? It is your legal right to vote and it is your civic duty to elect your leaders. It must then be your civic duty to study and understand what you are voting for but it is not your legal obligation to do so. If a person does not know the issues, why would they want to vote? It's not a social gathering. Nobody notices if you are there or not. Even is they did notice, they have no clue of what you are doing behind the curtain. You could be doodling Huckleberry hound on your ballot. So what? The point is, know what you are voting for or stay away from the polls so the rest of us can get a place to park!

In my opinion, voting and not knowing what the candidates stand for is like not voting at all. Even if you miss the debates on T.V. you can still visit their websites online. Voting is very important. It will truely affect us all!

MOST people don't have a clue what the issues are!
Ever have a conversation about politics with an idiot?
BUT, they vote anyway.
The very first time I voted for President, I came out of the booth and said "Can I do it again, I pulled the wrong lever"!!
He won too.

Voting when you have no clue about the issues is not only wasting your vote, but you could be helping to elect people who are not going to do a good job for our country. I pay attention to local issues and a couple of national issues, but I certainly don't have the time or inclination to follow every single issue. When I vote in a national election, I take the voting page from the newspaper who generally supports the party I do and vote for the candidate they've come out in support of, unless I have a favorite candidate they didn't support.

well since candidate tell lie after lie about what they believe or what they do then it's really a shot in the dark anyway. but everyone one who can should make it a point to find out something and vote for the person who best meets their beliefs or criteria and vote for them regaurdless of their ability to win.

What difference will it make? Politicians are all the same... Feel lucky if you are from a country where you can choose to vote. I wish I could choose not to vote and get a nice sleep in on a Saturday instead of fronting up to the polls to cast a donkey vote

Morally, alot go to vote out of their interest in thier own parties. There are some issues on the ballots ,however, that most did not focus on and end up getting duped. Voting is important, however, lately with all the corruption in the voting system, it could scare away, even those, very well aware of what is going on. Thats my opinion and Im sticking to it. Good question by the way.
