I'm being quite serious about this question...

Democrats weren't alone in questioning General Betrayus's take on the war.

So why attack Clinton? Why not attack Senator Warner and those handful of Republicans who grilled the general?

Or is there a double-standard when it comes to politics and party loyalty--with the GOP?

I recall there being some referrences to Israeli intelligence providing information that led to congress voting unanimously to oust Saddam but I am not sure how much or what exactly was provided by Israel and how much of that was just, made up. Anybody know?

Most Americans as myself that grew up in the sixties that were taught civics were imbued with the theory that the majority prevailed on any issue. Today Americans are preached to by president Bush that we do not have the right to close the border and deceide who is allowed into our country. We are chastised by the President of another country of our treatement of illegal aliens that are in our country. Why as a nation have we sunk to this low?

TEXAS CITY, Texas - Two sergeants who helped write a New York Times op-ed article sharply critical of the Pentagon's assessment of the Iraq war were killed in a Baghdad crash this week, and one grieving mother wants the Army to explain their deaths.
Another co-author, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Murphy, was shot in the head Aug. 12 while the op-ed was being written.

The Times piece, called "The War As We Saw It," expressed doubts about American gains in Iraq. "To believe that Americans, with an occupying force that long ago outlived its reluctant welcome, can win over a recalcitrant local population and win this counterinsurgency is far-fetched," the group wrote.

I believe at least once, President Bush said something to the effect of "I don't do much reading" or "I don't read much" and also "I don't read newspapers" etc. I'm NOT trying to bash Bush in this post. Instead, what I DO want is a link to a reliable online news source or blog or transcript or anything that has this statement documented so I can reference it. Could anyone PLEASE help?

I am one of those unpatriotics. I knew Bush wasn't being honest with We The People when he began the invasion. I knew it was to put us in a strategic positon in the Middle East. Now I'm questioning how much of this has to do with Israel. Where better to go with this then my buddies at YA.

6 months ago the anti Bush group said we reserve judgment until we hear from the GENERAL.Well a week before the report was even given some of those same people called it a lie.So much for waiting until it was presented to Congress. What is wrong with waiting until you talk to the author before making a judgement.I thought that was what hearings were for . What about reserving judgement untill All the facts are in. Is that asking to much?? Oh yes , I am niether a Democrat or Republican. I am a Independent thinker & voter

I have a homework assignment that asks some questions about Guantanamo. I know where it is and what it is. I am not real sure why we are holding "illegal combatants" there instead of a military prison in the US?

Are we not subject to US laws if they are held outside of the U.S.? I thought a military base was considered US soil?!?!! Is it because we want them off of the mainland so they are less of a threat if something happens? Could it be that we assume the terrorists will be less likely to attack the base and free the combatants? And if they do, there is less chance for civilian damage?

Not part of my assingnment, but I have also wondered why we even have a base on an island that we are forbidden to trade with. I assume this goes back to the Cuban Missile Crisis, but I am not well versed on that.

THANKS FOR HELPING ME UNDERSTAND!

Do they have the right to expect that the civilian leadership will not put them in harm's way unless it is absolutely necessary? I think Bush broke this trust, with his discretionary war in Iraq.

I mean the one-year rule in California. Are you fined? Or is your license taken away? The rule is that you can't drive passengers around if you're under 18 and haven't had your license for a year yet. You can only take passengers who are at least 25 and have a valid CA license. What happens if you get caught?

Never a story from Fox or any conservative paper. Just AP and CNN. You'd almost believe the Presidential candicy is between Obama and Hilary. Moveon.org is the Gestapo news media. It's so funny how liberals are only liberal when you agree with them. If you have your own ideas or opinions your called facisist, communist, or just a plain flat pig. Get in a argument with a liberal and see who starts the name calling.

I reckon the '08 elections are going to be the most important elections in US history. The American voters know that the status quo (continual bickering and name calling) cannot continue for another 4 years. One party must be given a strong mandate to govern.
I really doubt that Republicans will be the victors after their poor showing during the past 6 years.
So, who do you think will be trusted with this task?
