Do they have the right to expect that the civilian leadership will not put them in harm's way unless it is absolutely necessary? I think Bush broke this trust, with his discretionary war in Iraq.

If you feel the war is "discretionary," then you need to also hold the Democrats in Congress (including Kerry) responsible for voting to go.

We each get to vote for Congress and a President and then they make these decisions for the nation. It's the way it works.

discretionary? lol....you rocks sleigh me. We have every right to be in Iraq. Do your own homework. We've been dealing with Iraq's crap since 1990, so I think it would behoove you to get a little educated. The continued ignorance on this topic is getting a little old. I served under Carter, and that was a train wreck. This President is almost God like compared to Carter.

Dems and Libs just cant get it through their thick little skulls, the U.S. military is not the boy scouts they are professional soldiers, sailors and airmen, they train to protect the Constitution, people and sovereignty of the U.S. and its allies, and operate by serving under the command of their commander and chief the president of the United States of America. Very few have spoken out questioning the mission they are on,if they are willing to tolerate the heat, stress, roadside bombs, rocket attacks ambushes and ignorance of people who do not understand and who have never served anyone or anything but themselves, why do you feel like you need to offer your opinion in a matter that far outweighs you ability to comprehend.

America, love it , leave it , or just shut up !!!!!!

Anyone in the military should expect to be ordered anywhere in the world to go on any mission at a moments notice. Anyone who signs up and doesn't realize this is naive.

I think that they have the right to expect that they will be protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States , not inserting, protecting, and defending the Constitution of Iraq.
