The -surge- was back to square one, only increasing the number of troops in Iraq to what it had been six months earlier. It hadn't worked -then-, why did we expect it to work -now-?
Bush will say what he always says, that we are making progress. And, like Republican presidents since Nixon have done, he will pull a few factoids out of his butt to support his case. Something like: 'Statistics show that the number of people shot in Fallujah, in their left side, between 7:00am and 9:00am, between the ages of 17 and 19 is down by 8 percent!'

No, he means the surge achieved what it was meant to achieve.
You libs just reject any good news out of Iraq, any news of success, anything that might show we're not losing the war. You're so invested in defeat that you have to tune everything else out.
And if libs win, and we pull out of Iraq, we'll be right back in 10 or 15 years doing exactly what we're doing in Afghanistan, trying to eradicate an entrenched terrorist government. Amazing how the supposed intellectual left willing and completely ignores history.

Ha you anti-Bush types amuse me.
First, aren't you the ones calling for our troops to be brought home? A little upset now that, MILITARILY, we are able to?
Secondly, DUE TO THE GAINS THAT THE SURGE HAS SEEN, Gen Patraeus believes that it will be possible to reduce the size of troops to PRESURGE levels and still maintan our positive ground by next summer.
We are making progress, is your hate for President Bush REALLY clouding your judgement that much? Will you just not be satisfied until we have a full, nonconditional surrendor and are running home with our tail between our legs?
Quite Frankly, Sir, This Type of Diatribe Disgusts Me.

If Bush really wanted to give some good news to the liberals, he would say we've lost the war on terror, and we're all going to die from global warming.

Isn't his rating like 4 1/2 % more or less; I don't think people watch controlled media anymore.

Bush is stalling and will keep on stalling for as long as Congress lets him. He wants the troops to stay in Iraq for as long as he is president. We’ll be “making progress in Iraq” up until that time, regardless of what’s actually happening in Iraq.

Yep - that and the fact that these levels of troops are unsustainable. Bush will spin his little lying butt off tonight.

All he's trying to do is disguise the failure of the war in Iraq, with the many mistakes that have been made under his direction. Only he does not understand that it's already been too many lives lost and there is no turning back.
