6 months ago the anti Bush group said we reserve judgment until we hear from the GENERAL.Well a week before the report was even given some of those same people called it a lie.So much for waiting until it was presented to Congress. What is wrong with waiting until you talk to the author before making a judgement.I thought that was what hearings were for . What about reserving judgement untill All the facts are in. Is that asking to much?? Oh yes , I am niether a Democrat or Republican. I am a Independent thinker & voter

The contents of the report were being leaked to the press a good 2 weeks before Petraeus presented it, and was contradicted by the GAO report a week before.

The information was known before-hand, and much of it was found to be 'cooked', such as the decrease in violent deaths being caused by a change of definition, rather than a decrease of violence overall.

You said it yourself.

'...some of those people called it a lie...'

How is this a surprise? Some people think that aliens come down from outer space and anally probe them. It's not true, and no one pays any attention to these whackos. If some people want to call a man a liar before he even gets a chance to speak, then let them.

Having said that...I don't believe anything that our government tells us. I might 'weigh' the information given to me, but I never believe it until I have ALL the facts in. I don't think it's a stretch of logic to believe that any military official will have a HUGE bias.

The most liberal Democrats are so eager to defeat the Republicans in '08. They are more aggressive than ever.
I am expecting Biden or Reid to propose a law for Congress to take over the selection of generals soon.

It's all about the power
do whatever you have to get it and hang on to it.
remember back when you were a kid playing with a group of kids their was that one person that didn't like the way the game was going so they always were trying to changes the rules to fit the game to their liking. That seems to be the way Cong. and the Sen. is playing now.

Right on! That just shows you what self serving hypocrites they are. They just can't stand it that Bush doesn't cower down to everyone of their whims....

Yes (it's asking too much). Liberals are good at excercizing their right of free speech but it sounds like a bunch of dogs barking if they never stop to listen to anything but their own rantings.
