My bf and I live in a trailer park where there have been major drug deals & a kid recently died from the drug cheese. Ever since then, the cops have been sitting outside the trailer park & pulling EVERYONE over even though theyre not doing anything wrong. Even before this, the same cop has gone to extremes to pull anyone from our house over. On July 4, he pulled us over for the dealership frame around my license plates. He said they’re illegal. A few days ago, the same cop was sitting on our street talking to our neighbor, and my bf drove by them, and my neighbor said the cop goes “oh! there goes one of the people I have to pull over!!” we’ve gotten pulled over 5 times in the last 2 months by the same cop. every time we get pulled over, he searches my car, and totally trashes everything, then lets us go, because of course were not doing anything wrong. if we get pulled over again, my bf wants to file a complaint against the officer. what else can we do to make sure he gets in trouble?

I was until very recently working for a company that terminated me with made-up reasons. I have applied for unemployment for the first time in 12 years, and was denied based on my former employers slanderous lies. I plan to appeal the decision made by unemployment, but was wondering if anyone knows what my rights are concerning slander, character assasination, and defamation of character. Even if you don't live in South Carolina, any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. I've already spoken to one lawyer, and he told me that if I've suffered damages, I have a lawsuit. Can anyone help me with this? I really am more concerned about the lies affecting my credibility with other employers.
Thank you, Thank you...in advance!

I dislike Bush and his policies as much as the next person but really, the damage has been done. Impeaching him now would achieve nothing and would only further polarize people. If people really wanted Bush impeached they should have started working on it back in about 2004-2005.

Please, conservatives, don't leave obnoxious comments about how I am a "Liberal communist" I am a moderate, moderate is far enough away from right-wing propaganda to tell that Bush may be the worst president in history, there are even some conservatives who agree.

Please, liberals, no comments degrading conservatives, Bush is a bad president but it's not entirely their fault. Everyone who is answering, just try to get along.

Politics doesn't happen when two groups of people take extreme views and scream at each other, that sort of thing causes civil wars. What we all need to do is sit and talk and take each other seriously.

Most European democracies have several political parties.

They use something called proportional representation. Instead of electing candidates by district, voters pick a party they like, and seats are alloted according to how much votes each party receives. This reduces the power of the establishment parties and gives smaller parties a voice.

Do you think such a system is good for America? Would it not be an incentive for more people to vote if their votes actually counted?

Do Dems make sense?

If they want more time because Rush points out their weaknesses, they bring up "Fairness Doctrine."

But, when top scientists and other people question the voracity of Global Warming, Dems try to shut them up.

If it's legal, I'm interested.

So far I'm looking for:
-video recorders with nightvision set on motion detect
-server set up to save video files
-motion sensor lights
-bamboo grown around the property
-electric fence
-motorized gate (hooked up to electric fence also)
-No trespassing signs.

Feel free to elaborate even on things I've listed and list anything else you think works nice that's legal.

Of course as a last line of defense there's the dog, gun, mace, tazers, etc.. inside. But I'd like to keep people from even getting on my land.

This is for a college paper of mine. The more answers, the better the poll.

You are put in charge of releasing one of two convicts.

YOU MUST RELEASE ONE OF THEM!!! If you can't play along, please don't answer.

Why would you release the one over the other.

Convict #1: Fourth Conviction in his life. Bank robber - held up a bank and held 25 hostages for 12 hours. Children were among hostages. One old woman died from exhaustion. The robber did not directly kill any of them but nonethe less is responsible for the death.

Convict #2: First conviction in his life. 32 year old man downloaded child porn from a newsgroup. Never touched a child; however, will be registered as a sexual offender when released.
