I can tell you that all my professors are nutty liberals and none of them could cut it in the private sector. This is why they hide in Universities.
Of course they HATE me. I always wear my Reagan shirt to my poli sci class!

From my own experience, I do not see the big liberal conspiracy occuring in college that everyone talks about. If anything, the college professors that I had (and this was in the 90's) were content to put out a subject and then let the class discuss their points of view, both liberal and conservative. I do not recall that any one bashed the other points of view but instead there was a civil discussion of the issues. If the professors had as much influence as the majority of neocons believe (such as PNAC) then there really would not be any neocons left in America now would there?

I think that if they were on our public airwaves; YES there should be a conservative professor to counter the liberal one. Equal time to BOTH points of views, otherwise we'd have brainwashing propaganda!
FYI: The Fairness Doctrine did NOT regulate speech, it made sure speech from both sides of an issue was heard. Funny how none of you were whining in the old days when we HAD the Fairness Doctrine in place. I guess a lot of you are living proof of how being without Fairness anymore is brainwashing people into believing any nonsense spewed on the radio or cable TV.

How do libs have control over professors politics? I didn't know that it's up to libs. Politics can and should be discussed but only if all sides of an issue are shown. I don't care what a professor's political affiliation is. I just want them to know the subject matter they're teaching.

I can't imagine that many conservatives being qualified to be university professors. After all, college professors need to be intelligent and honest. Maybe if we count trade schools and those offshore schools like Reagan sent the marines to liberate that time we'd be able to even it out. Would that be OK with you?

God no! The liberals are out to destroy talk radio and cable news. Theyre not concerned with "fairness" at all but more as a move towards their own socialist propaganda. Any American that buys into the "Fairness Doctrine" is totally clueless.
Liberals fear an opposing point of view and want to silence the opposition with mainstream media...

Funny, but in 4 years of undergraduate, and three years of professional school, I never heard politics mentioned once by a professor. GOP is under the spell of anti education partisan mongers of unreality.

When professors get paid on a scale with people who work in the business world, you'll have a natural diversity take place.
Until then, there will be those who can do, and those who can teach.

The Fairness Doctrine applies to broadcast media -- radio and broadcast TV -- it would not apply to cable, or private forums, or schools.
And it's not liberals advocating for the Fairness Doctrine. Liberals oppose got regulation of speech -- it's a few Democrats (not even most of them).

...it doesn't matter what political stance you take. If you're better you get the job. Especially if you're a political science professor, your political views should have NOTHING to do with whether you get a job or what you teach. Students should be able to form their own opinions.
