I've been reading about the economic impact of illegal immigrants . . . and I can understand the added cost to education and health care . . . but it seems like the other programs require social security numbers to qualify. If illegals can not get ss numbers legally, they must be doing it through other means . . . Do you think that in addition to securing our borders our social security system needs to be secured as well? This would certainly limit the economic impact of illegals . . . If you know how they receive these benefits (other than fraud) let me know. Any information or thought is appreciated. Thanks.

This was a post to a question I asked earlier today that I happen to agree with. It was posted by S C.

"Scandals used to be scandalous and politicians used to (usually) resign when they were caught in scandalous situations. The Clinton administration numbed us to scandal.

There were so many major scandals not just involving Bill and Monica but Hillary's financial dealings, the Travelgate affair, Whitewater, the cabinet members who had to step down due to wrongdoing, the former associates from Arkansas convicted of a multitude of crimes and sent to jail..... and let's not forget the gross abuse of the Presidential pardon privilege in the last hours of the Slick Willie presidency .......and the White House artifacts found in the moving van."

And he didn't mention it all, especially Vince Foster, who was supposed to have committed suicide.

What do you think?

The government set up the H1B and L1 visa programs. As a result, 9 Indian companies have set up shop in the US and hire nothing but H1B visa holders. The 9 companies account for 20,000 of the 65,000 annual H1B visas granted. US law requires they document why they can't find and hire American workers if the percentage of H1B visa workers employed is greater than 15%. They simply ignore the requirement. The L1 visa program was designed to allow international companies to transfer employees from foreign offices to the US to work. It was intended to allow the transfer of executives and such to assist in US operations. Now, the Indian companies (and a lot of American companies) use the loophole to transfer consultants to the US and hire them out to the IT departments of their clients. Abuse of this program is rampant. Congress wants to increase the H1B visa quota, even though they're aware of the fraud. How can we trust them on the issue of illegal immigration? I certainly can't.

Do you think they are hard-working, and do manual labor for little pay, which no other citizen would do?

Or do you have other thoughts about them?

Can you provide support for why you feel that way? Or is it just an opinion?

Ok this subject seems to come up alot because of the emotional beliefs on both sides of the topic.

I get the idea that Pro choicers believe that Pro Lifers are trying to take away their freedom of choice. Pro Lifers believe that there is just as much value to an unborn life as their is to a full grown one and a practice of taking away that life is not a matter of choice for anyone.. it just should not be done. For instance if you saw a Weightlifter beating up a 2 year old ..wouldnt you stop it? This is how we feel about abortion, someone making a choice of life and death over another life that is helpless. The absolute hate of some pro choicers towards pro lifers is almost to the point of hysteria and im not talking about the extreme fringes of some nutjobs..because believe me i know we got some on the pro lifer side.. this hatred is becomming more mainstream. So just settle down and think of how we are looking at abortion TRUTHFULLY before you go into hysterics..

My vote is for Oklahoma. I grew up in a poverty stricken town there and thinking back on some of the things they handed out to people sickens me. It was just an incentive to be lazy.

First of all, they give out food stamps in the form of an "access card" which is just like a credit card that is only allowed to pay for food purchases (though some grocery stores would bend the rules and enter beer and cigarettes as "grocery"). When you take a blue credit card out of your wallet, the cashier would always enter it as an access card and have to re-do it, they were so used to those things.

Secondly, in lieu of medic-aid, Oklahoma offers a government paid private insurance plan called SoonerCare, which is just like a regular plan but the state picks up the tab. It's a far better plan that what they give state workers, such as teachers.

Finally, it is EXTREMELY easy to get on welfare. Just tell certain psycologists you're too depressed to work, and bingo! you get SSI for life.

I have seen people just talk dirty about mexicans, not knowing the issue at hand about immigration-illegal immigration, so, I understand that is ignorant from them, but, dont you see like a pattern in the american and world history with this type of stuff?. eg. Germany with the Jews (1920-30-40), they where all against them because of the same reason, and I actually have heard a lot of the same insults; taking away jobs, paranoia of their numbers in population, racial issues of appearance....also; United States before the emmancipation proclamation, white people against blacks. I mean, wow, is just scary the way white people are talking about them, I just hope that the US will follow in its own footsteps from the past; that all men are created equal.......or something

My dream is to become a Ranger. My recruiter told me that it would be hard to get the Ranger contract because they only have a few of them, which turned out to be true when I went to MEPS. He told me not to worry because at Fort Benning, where my Basic training and AIT, and Airborne school are at, Ranger Instructers go there looking for people to volunteer to be Rangers. Is this true? I am leaving for basic in 2 weeks and Im wondering if its true, having only an infantry contract and not a Ranger one.

I mean, right now you'd probably find about 30% who would admit they voted for him.
What will that figure be in 2009?
I remember the amazing number of Nixon's landslide voters who disappeared by 1974.

1) citation was written as charges being listed: disobeying traffic control device** No signs, signals, or anything was there! Just a bridge / water on two lane highway.
2) Nature of offense: clocked with robotic device at 49 in posted 35 ** What is a robotic device? ALSO no road, direction of travel is completed, and in both sections, charges and offense block, the "other" box was check marked... not speeding...final question: This is the second patrol stop in 2 days, and I just got my car back from the garage, as it was in a reported/insured accident, hit drivers side, (Boss hit my car with the dumptruck at work!) After receiving tonights citation, drove through an electronic speed trap, which stated on their sign that I was going almost 10 mph more than what my speedo was reading. If I have proof the car was hit, to be fixed by garage, but wasn't, will they drop the summons? Do I take this proof to police or ask for a magistrate hearing? Thanks for any help.

Will the government give them amnesty? After all you can't put 15 million Americans in jail for tax evasion.
Perhaps Congress could pass much needed "Taxpayer Reform".legislation. Obviously the current tax laws aren't working. This bill would require tax evaders to pay a "meaningful fine" of say $1000 or $5000 to get back in good standing with the IRS (without having to pay the original taxes that they evaded, of course). This will bring these good people, that are just trying togive their families a better life, out of the shadows.
But we can't make them pay the taxes they evaded. That's just not realistic. Most of them have used that money already to buy homes. They are just trying to live the American dream like anybody else. If they had to sell their homes, the housing market would collapse.
Other tax evaders have used the money to start businesses. They are actually helping the economy.
Call your senator and tell them to vote YES on AMNESTY FOR TAX EVADERS

I was going 42 in a 25 zone today, the officer pulled me over and gave me one ticket for speeding and another for not having my front plate attached to the car. The plate was in my back seat because of a bumper repar and I just hadn't put on.

Is there any way to get out of these tickets? Should I hire an attorney and let him take care of it? Or should I just pay the fine and deal with the points on my driving record?

Thanks!

Recently I received a ticket for an open container in public in New Jersey. This is a first offense and I have never had any problems with the law before. Any idea what the penalty would be like? Also is this considered a misdeamanor? I have to go to court for it so I'm a little nervous about what the penalty is going to be like.

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Republicans voted overwhelmingly late Tuesday in favor of a resolution opposing an immigration reform plan being debated on the Senate floor, a move that could place a significant roadblock in front of the measure if it clears the Senate.

By a vote of 114-23, the House Republican Conference approved a statement by Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Michigan that simply read: "Resolved the House GOP Conference disapproves of the Senate immigration bill." The vote came during a closed door meeting.

House Democratic leaders have previously said they would not bring the immigration bill to the Senate floor unless at least 70 of the 201 GOP members were on board.
