How is it that a man can be charged for double homicide when he murders a pregnant woman, but abortion is okay because it's not really a baby until it's born? How does that work?

My late uncle, Dale James Morgan ( U.S. Army), recieved a Bronze Star presented by a general, in the field, in the Phillippines in WWII. I've been trying to find war records regarding him to no avail.
Any information anyone can provide me with regarding Mr. Morgan's service would be greatly appreciated.
In everyone's life they meet a great number of men, and a far lesser number of Great Men.
Mr. Morgan was one of those Great Men.

From what I read, Andrew Jackson has been judged by historians to be the worst. I have no knowledge of why they say that.

But more recently, Jimmy Carter, while president accomplished the goals of making double digit inflation, having us wait for gasoline that cost, adjusted for inflation, what it did this spring (we broke the record), had extremely high interest rates which discouraged home ownership, and had a stagnant economy with high unemployment. Lets not forget about his buying of hostages telling the world the US WILL negotiate with you.

I don't agree with alot of what Bush has done, especially the Patriot Act and his spending tendencies. But he is far from the worst.

Not to mention currently Jimmy Carter is certifying elections in Venezuela and calls Bush the worst president. A man who lives in a glass house shouldn't cast stones.

I was recently informed my definition of "sedition" was different than that used in the United States due to my being from another country (I was born here and raised in the U.S.).
My thanks to that poster (what, you expect me to silence them? No way! Seditious people should speak up rather than be silent, be patriotic rather than seditious).

What I'm asking for you to do is to first write down your definition of sedition, then look up the original sedition laws and read them, then edit your answer to add your thoughts about the differences, your insights as to why yours is the same or different than what was originally meant. Is that O.K.? If anyone else has a similar one, email me and I'll answer!

The document isn't too long, and I encourage research past my link, of course. Have fun!

Here's the link AFTER you post your own definition, then come back and add notes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition_Act_of_1918

I am not too familiar with the President's powers when it comes to the military, so please enlighten me. How much direct control over the military does the President have at any given time? I know that he holds the supreme title of "Commander-in-Chief", but I can't figure out what that actually means authority-wise. Let's say that the President was to issue orders to the army which are unconstitutional. Is the military bound to follow him, or can they actually defy him and refuse to carry out the orders?

Ans at last , but not least,I know why US citizens are angry, they are realizing that they dont have anything special, the wealth of USA relies on its Imperialist policy, nothing else....

Like the missing mom case in Ohio. Or most of the crime in any inner city in the country? Like it not, Blacks cause the most crime in this country, and it is backed up with FBI, Police, and Marshall statistics. Why do people have such a problem with the truth? Are you OK with this fact? Are you happy with it?

George Bush used the term “rape rooms” when describing the atrocities of the Saddam Hussein regime. But did you know that during the Abu Ghraib torture investigation, General Taguba of the US Armed Forces investigation comity discovered footage of female Iraqi detainees being sodomized by American military guards? We viewed the photos of the humiliation the male detainees suffered; they endured physiological abuse, sexual humiliation, forced stress positions, etc. But how many of us knew while that was going on, their wives, daughters, and sisters, were being raped?

It is one thing to do this to their men, but when their women and girls are gathered up and systematically raped, we become no better then the men we overthrew in the first place. Our president used the terminology of sexual abuse as a method to shock and manipulate the American people to believe our invasion of Iraq was justified; yet we enter the scene and become guilty of the same behavior the Iraqis perpetrated.

I am totally ashamed.

The term "plutocracy" is formally defined as government by the wealthy, and is also sometimes used to refer to a wealthy class that controls a government, often from behind the scenes. More generally, a plutocracy is any form of government in which the wealthy exercise the preponderance of political power, whether directly or indirectly.

With all our politicians selling out America in favor of big companies, and Bush wanting the Immigration Bill passed for cheap labor, and all the power the corporate lobbyists have, isn't a Plutocracy really what our government has turned into?

I have been trying to find, unsuccessfully, the full definition of an "Enemy Combatant" or what criteria must be met for an individual to be characterized as an "Enemy Combatant." Unfortunately, all I keep finding are bits and pieces of definitions like the following:

"An individual who was part of or supporting the Taliban or al Qaida forces, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners. This includes any person who committed a belligerent act or has directly supported hostilities in aid of enemy armed forces."

Can anyone please provide a link to the definition of an Enemy Combatant or the criteria that must be met before an individual can be charged as such?

Thanks

I'm in Marine ROTC at my university and I really need to get my run times down. I have trouble running to begin with and I have very mild athsma. I run about a 24 min. 3 mile now and I really need to get it under 20 minutes ( preferably around 19) by the time I go back to school in mid- August. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions, or workout routines that have worked for them to drop run times quickly and effectively? I would appreciate anything that you could come up with.
