If you're rich, they'll make you richer and make the middle class have less money.

I only vote party when their is no obvious difference between candidates. I try to learn all I can about those running for office and vote the person not the party. Voting just to be voting makes no sense. Voting a party ticket is even worse. Study the issues, study the candidates, Those who have been in office have a track record that will show what you can expect from them - it is not always what they preach! I feel the last two elections I made a mistake voting for Bush instead of voting the party so I am partially to blame for his being in office. I will vote republican again if Clinton ends up being the Democratic candidate.

How has the Democrat party benefited you. You say you have voted a straight Democrat ticket for years. Is this because you believed in all their views, some or just playing the lesser of the two evils as it were(in your mind). One should keep an open mind and vote for the candidate that truly mirrors what you believe. Whether it be a Democrat, Republican or even a third party. For if one blindly votes for a political ticket do to ignorance, biases or preconceived notions. They are not only doing a disservice to themselves, but the rest of America too. I have voted both ways, for Republicans and Democrats alike. To do what best for the nation, my daughter and future generations of this great Republic. Sometimes it takes one, rising above partisanship to create that more perfect Union that is the American dream. As one great Democrat said, "Do not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Sometime you have to put aside whats best for you. Do a selfless act and do what best for the nation as a whole. If this means voting Republican, Democrat, or even third party so be it.
Peace!!! Love!!! Happiness to all!!! Long live the Great Federal Republic of these United States. All those who dwell with in Her!!! Or serve Her!!!

*shrugs* Vote for a Republican if you want, but I'm a liberal Independent, so I'm voting Democrat. Yeah... I'm not that big on the repubs (understatement). But if someone happens to have your politics and best interest and whatever, then go ahead and vote for that person whether that person is Dem or Repub. Obviously, this is a very personal decision. Some people can go with that type of thinking that I've just stated. I myself actually can't, though, because I believe that there are certain views that a Democrat should have and certain views that a Republican should have, and frankly, the majority of the people (us) want someone who is clear-cut and decisive. They're not going to vote for a Republican who has extremely liberal views nor are they going to vote for a Democrat who has extremely conservative views. I think that if you've voted Dem forever, then you're almost always going to vote Dem unless some Republican pops up with your views (which is highly unlikely and, in my estimation, nonsensical... why wouldn't that person be a Democrat, then, right?)

Without reading any other answers I'm going to ask you this. Why shouldn't you vote Republican?
What I'm trying to say is that you and only you can answer your question. You have to ask yourself what your looking for, what you want, what is important to you and then find out who out of all the candidates best represents you. When you ask questions like this your going to get a lot of different answers that are biased in opinion. In the end the only opinion that matters is yours.

Depends what your political ideologies are!

*If you're for a smaller size government, less taxes and less gov. spending that just supplies the basic necessities for society (roads, police, fire fighters, water), not for a larger government that TAKES from you to redistribute your wealth to the poor for the common good or one that starts new government social programs constantly and makes you the taxpayer pay for it even though you don't use it! Then Republican would be for you. This is my biggest reason to vote repub..

Some other big issues for republicans, though not mine, are that they are against gay marriages and abortions.

People fail to realize that a lot of those people that are rich, did not get rich or richer because of republicans, that's just stupid; they got rich because they were smart and/or hardworking, savy businessmen! Republicans give people, all people of all wealth classes the best opportunity to succeed, with less taxes, more economic growth and the thing a lot of people naturally dislike but is vital for success and societal survival, "INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY" I know it sucks, but no one should have to be forced to take care of some stranger that doesn't want to try to achieve success! Everyone is responsible for their own well being, not the government not the tax payers, not welfare; but that individual!! That's why I vote republican, because dems feel it's someone elses responsibility to take care of the lower class and the downtrodden! That's what charities are for!

You should not vote for ANY candidate by the party they are in or not. That's actually pure laziness. You let others form your opinion for you.

You should research each candidate and vote for the one you think will be the best at the job and who will do his/her best to represent you fairly and honestly -- no matter if they are Republican, Democrat, Independent or any other party.

Cast both parties aside, study the issues that are highest
on your priority list, then select the person that you honestly
believe is best qualified to achieve your goals, does not
matter which side of the fence he is on.

In other words be an Independent, vote where you feel best
served.

Vote however you want. If you don't know the difference, then you fit right in with most other Americans who don't look into the differences in the candidates and vote for who ever their parents or friends vote for.

Your reason is in your question. You have voted Democrat for years. The last Dem landslide was FDR. Don't expect one now and don't expect change from Dems. Just higher taxes and more of the same.
