George Bush used the term “rape rooms” when describing the atrocities of the Saddam Hussein regime. But did you know that during the Abu Ghraib torture investigation, General Taguba of the US Armed Forces investigation comity discovered footage of female Iraqi detainees being sodomized by American military guards? We viewed the photos of the humiliation the male detainees suffered; they endured physiological abuse, sexual humiliation, forced stress positions, etc. But how many of us knew while that was going on, their wives, daughters, and sisters, were being raped?

It is one thing to do this to their men, but when their women and girls are gathered up and systematically raped, we become no better then the men we overthrew in the first place. Our president used the terminology of sexual abuse as a method to shock and manipulate the American people to believe our invasion of Iraq was justified; yet we enter the scene and become guilty of the same behavior the Iraqis perpetrated.

I am totally ashamed.

I too, am ashamed. When Abu Ghraib first fell into our hands, President Bush promised to demolish the prison, so that "no stone was left on top another." Never in my wildest imagination did I dream that two years later we would commit all the crimes Saddam committed there, and worse.

Scott claims people were convicted for those crimes. Two were. Two american military personnel. However, there were also numerous private contractors and some CIA operatives there, responsible for much of the torture (let's not play games by calling it "abuse"). We executed more than 30 prisoners at Abu Ghraib, only half a dozen of those were ever investigated--and no charges were ever brought against anyone not under the UMCJ, because "there was no law." Apparently, our boys can literally get away with murder.

I am more than ashamed, I am sickened and apalled. And my feelings are only aggravated by the numbskulls who dismiss our torture as "mere college pranks."

I went to college. I must have passed out drunk the night I was sodomized and tortured. I don't remember a thing about it. Not even a bloody hemmorhoid to remind me of the hazing.

Yeah but Bush has got away with only releasing edited reports with lots of stuff redacted and with not releasing the worst photos of what was going on at Abu Ghraib (let alone the US prisons in eastern Europe or those in countries to whom suspects were handed over to and who are known for use of torture).

The US has alot to be ashamed about.

OK - your link does not include references to the rapes you mention - but it does tell us what we already know - that AG was a massive coverup where senior people all the way to the Pentagon allowed a couple of very junior people to take the fall for what was evidently a strategic, common and authorised practice.

The difference is stark:

The Americans that committed those crimes were sentenced for them and decryed by the administration.

The Iraqis were supported by Saddam.

But I'm sure you've been in charge of people and have been watching them every minute so I can charge you with any crimes they committed.

You are wrong.

I worked in Detainee Operations over there and nothing like that could have possibly went on because of the way things were structured. That's all I'm gonna say.

We ARE better than the men we overthrew, because WE have tried and convicted OUR soldiers. They PROMOTED theirs!

Where's your link to your evidence or proof.

Unfounded allegations and accusations are nothing more than propaganda.

Evidently you're one of those who is against us because you're not with us.

Or do you have something to support your accusations?
