How many poor people do we have in America (which is the United States) and how much money has it been costing us in tax dollars to keep sending that piece of **** in the sky that punctures our ozone each time it comes and goes? Who really gets paid for the actions to violate or perpetrate upon our rights to civilized loans to purchase homes and decent automobiles?

"We falsely think of our country as a democracy when it has evolved into a media-ocracy, where our media, which is supposed to check political abuse, is part of political abuse."
-Danny Schechter, former CNN and ABC news producer

"[The media] is not a healthy counterweight to government, they are as big as or bigger than the government, and they work closely with the government." -Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Media Studies at New York University

"The most powerful special interests in washington today is the media, because not only do they give money and lobby, and do all the things that industries do in washington, but they control whether or not a politician's mug gets on the tube. Now that is power. That is the ultimate power in a political realm, controlling perceptions." -Charles Lewis, former "60 minutes" producer

The media is not like other industries. It MUST be regulated, in order to ensure a FREE PRESS. Why is the FCC relaxing anti-trust laws?

Do you think that if our Founding Fathers had envisioned that one day information would be distributed via radio waves they would have written the "freedom of radio" into the 1st Amendment?

Consider that they wrote the only two methods of communication existing at that time in: speech and press.

Thoughts?

Libs are complaining about everything in the US today from the war to the cost of toilet paper. The say this is not a good country. They liken President Bush to Hitler. They call our government evil. They complain about "stolen" elections. And so on. So, why do they continue to live here if they believe what they preach? Sure they have a right to live here and I am not telling them to leave, but if things are as bad as they say wouldn't they be packing up in hoardes and leaving the US? Why don't they walk the walk rather than talk the talk?? As for me I think the USA is the best place on earth to live!

Then how come wherever I go, all the forums, real live people etc. Are for it? They all think that the undocumented americans are good people and contribute to the economy? I dare you to prove me wrong, and not by showing me a poll, but by showing me actual people that are with you.

Who pays sites like Yahoo!News to "spotlight" certain candidates while burying the rest, both in coverage, exposure and face-time?

Example: Click on the candidate's "pages" linked from the Politics site and take note of the date/time of published news-stories. You'll see some candidates get "up-to-the-minute" listings while others have virtually none. Ron Paul - who trounces competition in various debates, online polls and public reaction is afforded virtually no headlines. Who pays to have this done?

The GOP impeached Clinton, not for sex, but for lying to a grand jury about it. So why are some Republicans calling for Libby to be pardoned because he was "only" convicted of lying to a grand jury, not of a crime the grand jury was investigating? What's the difference?

Here is our problem... My husband and I have been going round an round with his ex since the last time she took us to court and we won joint custody of his daughter. She keeps, keeping the child from us, sometimes for weeks at a time!! Each time our lawyer finally sends her a pretty nasty letter and she finally lets us have her back, but this time that isn't working, and this is the second time she has pulled this crap this year!! We've had enough!! We tried just going over when it was our time to get her, and pick her up, but the cops wouldn't help us, they didn't want in the middle... So the only other thing I can figure to make her finally stop, is to press contempt of court (because she is!!) And see if maybe jail time will finally make her see we are not going to do this anymore and scare her enough to stop it!! She is just hurting Hope and thats not fair!! Thanks for any help!!
