I'm tired of courts stepping in and telling governemtns what they can and can't do. They want to stop a town from making it illegal to rent to illegal aliens? They are illegal, they have broken the law, but we can't stop from renting to them? Hey Charles Manson want to rent my house, courts say it's ok.

If you want to stop illegal aliens you have to hit them where it hurts. Fine and imprison employers who hire them and make it illegal to rent to them. Can't work and no place to live they will go home and apply for legal status.

In California how long do you have to live at a residence before it can be considered your address? I have been living at the same place for 4yrs now. We recently got new owners who have hired a property management company. Now all of the sudden this management company from hell is telling me that I don't count because my name is not on the lease. When they first met us everything was peachy, their rep said she would bring by an application for me to fill out but it would only be a formality. She assured us that there would be not screening process. After 3 months, no application so I called her on it. She responded by mailing me an application and expects me to pay a $30.00 credit check fee and has left me a voice mail stating that because I am a "guest" who has visited for over 15 days I must first be approved by them in order to be able to continue to stay. This can not be right. I live in Oakland California any insight?

My husband and I have been separated for 60 days now. I filed for a divorce in 2001 and he talked me into dropping it. It cost me a $2500.00 for nothing. Now he has attorney insurance, should I let him file this time? That is what I want to happen. After talking with an attorney he advised me not to let my ex go longer than five months. He said he would establish residency somewhere else and I'd have to go there?

It seems like every time somebody brings up Bush's approval rating, there is always some contard who says congress has a lower rating. If they had half a brain in their hollow head they would realize that the reason their rating is low is because the Republicans keep blocking the progress America wants. America voted in more democrats for change, unfortunately Republicans will stop at nothing to stand in the way of what 70% of America wants.

Im amazed that politicans who make decisions that cost the taxpayer billions of our hard earned money are not held accountable when their decisions are found to be completley wrong,eg the NHS computer system. If this were a private company and the board wasted billions of shareholders money heads would roll. Not to mention all the expense fiddling going on,if this were the private sector the police would be involved or is it not a crime if you are a politician and they are exempt .

Just out of curiosity, what else are their gripes?

By the way let's talk Katrina a minute, how many donations by everyone have been given to charities from all parties for the victims of Katrina?
Are the people who were left homeless by the hurricaine in New Orleans working to re-build there city? how manyy took there money cards and spent the money on Gucci Purses, and drugs ..New Orleans has a huge crime problem is this poverty? or just low life thugs that want to cause trouble and want a hand-out? I believe disabled folks, the elderly, sick and children, yes we have a duty to care for these people, but the ones between 18 and 50 who don't want to get a job are causing trouble, making babies but won't work to care for them let the libs give them there hard earned money since accountability is a word omitted from their language.
Thoughts?

people say extreme things that are scary, these are people that could be the next hitler. I'm kidding about that but some of these people really need to look at facts before they talk. They are questioning 9/11 and saying the pilots could barely fly a plane and how did they do it? Well the answer is they took lessons, remember they had classes and flight instruction. How did they come up with the plans, it took them years to figure out their plans for the terrorist attacks. So why are people gullible enough to believe that the U.S. did it themselves. That really worries me that people are that extreme to think something like that, I guess they have never heard of treason, they have stepped over the freedom of speech line into treason in my opinon. Just like you can't yell fire! in a crowded building if there isn't one. I'm just amazed there are people like that. I don't know if they are just that extremist or if they have mental problems, but they need to look at the facts and see.

Lewis "Scooter" Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in prison for lying to investigators looking into the leak of a CIA operative's identity.

He also was fined $250,000. Libby was convicted March 6 of four counts in a five-count indictment alleging perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements to FBI investigators.

The 30-month sentence was for the obstruction of justice charge. Libby received shorter sentences on the other counts, to run concurrently.

Some people are saying it's too much. I feel like it's about right and even could be longer.

Here's what the judge said: "People who occupy these types of positions, where they have the welfare and security of the nation in their hands, have a special obligation to not do anything that might create a problem."

I think people should be talking about this instead of Paris Hilton's jail time.

Below are just a sample of the fees paid in the process of obtaining a “green card” (not citizenship) when a person immigrates legally. They are only paperwork expenses and do not include misc. costs incurred in obtaining necessary documentation required, (i.e. long form birth certificates, police/fingerprint checks, etc etc) which run into the hundreds of dollars on their own. These are just the initial application USCIS fees and do not include the hundreds of $$$ in forms/fees that are imposed by the Dept of State which must also be paid in full before a green card is issued.
Fiance application – $455 or
Relative application – $355
Biometrics - $70
Adjustment of Status – $1010 (for PR)
Advanced parole (travel) – $305
Medical exam $200-$300 + vaccination costs
Remove conditions $545 + more biometrics
Employment authorization $340

Given this info, is it excessive to ask someone who is illegal to pay $1000 and do a background check to be able to live and work here?

Why do we struggle amongst eachother, when the big picture is staring us in the face, why dont we Love instead of hate, I ask of you the reader, why? If there were no borders in the world only one country proclaimed as the "world", and then would there not be anymore fighting? If everyone was Independent, and they all cared for one another. Wouldnt the world be better

I say this to you, I ask you these questions, because the fact of the matter is, is that we all argue, we all have our differences, we all debate for what we believe in, but is what we fight for reasonable, and what do we actually get out of it? For example "Religion" There has been debate, killing, corruption, and hate created around this word, when it's true meaning was Love, and to care for eachother. As in the middle east there has been fighting and war for centuries, but there has been no outcome but death. I am only a Teenager, and maybe I dont see the bigger picture yet, but why fight, and argue amongst eachother

I came home early from class, noticed the back door open, then called the police. Everything had been dug through, but all that was stolen was a laptop, some washing detergent, and a bag of Durritos. The police said that it must be someone at the complex who was watching me and my schedule to know when I would be gone, and it looked like I interupted him when I came home early. He broke in through the window, it was locked along with the doors. Completely not my or my husbands' fault. Our lease isn't up until Feb of next year, but my husband is in the navy and is gone every other month, and is worried that I could have been raped or worse had he not been there, so naturally we want to leave. But they say that since he isn't being "restationed" anywhere, it isn't there responsiblity, so we either have to pay 3 times or rent to get out, our suck it up. Im alone every night since my husband is on night shift. I'm scared, and my husband's worried, what can we do? Should we hire an attorney

My husband has a written contract with a company. In it they state that they will provide me, his wife, with a 40 hours per week job in their office for the summer. I am not getting anywhere near the 40 hours that were promised to me. We talked to them about it and they told us that I could get a job somewhere else if I wanted more hours. We brought up the contract and they said so.

Is this a breach of contract? If so, what can I do about it? Can I sue them for the amount of money i would have received had I been working the 40 hours? Does that make the rest of the contract void? Is my Husband legally responsible to hold up his end of the contract?
