The minimum standards in my own state are no felony arrests or arrests involving domestic violence or moral turpitude.

Once an agency has considered you for hire you must complete a state certification course with a minimum of 480 hours of academy training. Some agencies require more!

My state further requires a minimum of annual "continuation" training which if not met will cause for termination of state certification.

You need to be 21 years of age
You need to be physically fit
You need to have no felonies on your record, there is a small exception for misdemeanors.
You have to be an American citizen (Born or Naturalized)
You have to have a high school diploma or a G.E.D College helps alot.

etc... there are also more requirements, but I suggest you research the department you are interested in, and it should give you a list of requirements on their website, or if you go to their station they can give you some requirments.

AA degree is a typical requirement to prepare for transforming into a cop. yet once you are able to own a BA degree, it fairly is a lot greater advantageous than the AA. and there are different standards as physicality and mentality... and so on

clean record is a must. good communication skills.good credit.the credit part shows that a person is responsible for his or her own actions.
before filling out the application get all your information together, make sure you have all the information on your referrences.have your job history the best you can.as long as all you info is in order it will greatly speed the hiring process.dress nicely.be in very good shape because academies are becoming very hard physically

You also cannot have commited any crimes - there are multiple stories about marijuana and other drug usersbeing denied into police forces.
