I am a retired USAF figher pilot - started by career in 1970.
In my day, all incoming pilots had to have 4 year degrees preferably in engineering or a related technical field.
My current fighter pilot buddies tell me it is the same thing today.

Yes, you have to have a degree to be a pilot in the Air Force. HOWEVER, no such need in the US Army Warrant program. Warrants fly CH47s, AH64s, UH60's. Of course, you'll have to max dern near EVERY test to get into that program from High School.
Bottom Line: Get into ROTC at a college. A fraternity brother of mine graduated from college through ROTC and now he's a pilot. Not fighters, I think KC-135s but hey... he's a pilot.

You have to have a 4 year college degree. Yet, even then you might not be qualified.
