Serious answers only please. I'm curious to see who supports the war and who doesn't and more importantly, why?

Thanks in advance for your serious answers.

**This question came to me while watching Rosie on The View - she is so adiment about her answer... I don't think anything could sway her. Just curious how different people get their view and why.

Seem to be many on this site that regularly insult Carter and Clinton yet get upset when Bush is insulted. Is there an unwritten rule? Do you think the people insulting Carter and Clinton now expressed their displeasure with these presidents when they were serving?

I can barely understand why CCTV is used. The simple fact is that it is no sound replacement for the police, the evidence is used AFTER an offecne has been committed, it makes people (the general public, not shop owners) feel insecure....and now they want TALKING CCTV? Why? What good will that possibly do? It seems 1984 is not on the way, but it is already here. The government has taken a new policy of predicting children likely to commit criminal offences in the future, and restricts their civil rights, before they are even BORN....whats next? CCTV in our homes? Scanners that predict our violent thoughts? Xray scanners on streets? Why is this happening?

OK, I have been trying to think of ONE good argument for abortion, and keep coming up empty. Maybe someone here can help me out. Of course, all of the following arguments assume the woman was not raped, and that her life is not being threatened by having the baby. However, I have seen statistics showing that rape victims are only 1% of all abortions, so ending 99% of abortions would be OK with me.

1. A woman should be able to do what she wants with her body.
-Of COURSE she should! No one is telling her not to get plastic surgery, or a tattoo. However, once she decides to have sex, and get pregnant, she has ANOTHER body growing inside of her. It is no longer her body, it is her child’s body, and she should not be able to end its life any more than a mother can kill her 3 year old.

2. People are going to do it anyway, so we might as well make it legal, and safe.
-Well, people smoke crack, and it’s illegal. People rape, people murder, people steal, and those are all illegal. Should we legalize all of those, too?

3. These are new times. Making abortion illegal brings us back to a time where women had no rights.
-Wrong. Abortion gives a woman MORE rights than a man. She has the right to kill the child, whether the man agrees or not. In order for us to be equal, men should also be allowed to abort the baby, even if against the mother’s wishes. This, of course, is absurd, and so is the argument.

4. You can’t force them to be pregnant if they don’t want to be.
-Please. If you don’t want to get pregnant, don’t have sex. I think even animals have figured this one out, but yet humans just can’t slip their mind around it. Do women just think that a “baby fairy” makes them pregnant? I may not know everything, but I know it is VERY hard to get pregnant without having sex.

I’m not close-minded, and I have changed my mind on many subjects. I may even change my mind on this one, if I could ever hear a good argument. But none so far. So, are there ANY good arguments for abortion?

Why is everyone up Jimmy Carter's butt today for expressing his opinion? No, he wasn't a great President. But he held the office, and if I get reprimanded by cons for badmouthing Bush because "he's the President and should be respected," why are their criticisms of Carter above reproach?

And before you jump down my throat: I am not a Carter supporter.

When I was getting divorced 4 years ago, my ex paid me a sum of money and I signed a quit claim deed giving him sole rights to the house. However, since he's medically disabled the lawyers didn't want me to press for him to get a mortgage in his name since they were certain no bank would give it to him. However, now I'm concerned. If he were to die or default on the payments, would the bank come after me for the remaining mortgage payments? Lawyers? Paralegals? Is there anything I can do to rectify this situation now and protect myself?

If you are opposd to the so-called "amnesty" provision of the proposed Senate compromise, what do you want to happen. Please propose a specific plan for handling theestimated 12 million illegal immigrants. Please include with that an explanation for how you would find and capture these people (at one per minute, your talking about 24 years); how you would find enough judges/officers to hear there concerns (everyone has the right to defend themselves, to present documents and arguments); how you would fill the jobs they leave (currently, U.S. unemployment is at 6.1 million); how would you keep the economy stable when the cost of produce, construction, cleaning, etc immediately jumps (to pay the real wages needed to fill the jobs). In other words, it's fine to be opposed to "amnesty," but you have to have a plan. What's yours?

We are all immigrants, with the exception of full blodded Native Americans. This country was founded on immigrants. Almost every person reading this has immigrant blood in their heritage. People left their home countries, came to America for a better life. I am so angry when people say things like "They have no right to be here! They were not born here" Um...it was just chance that you were born in this country. It wasn't like a devine intervention that led you to be an American, and you didn't have to pass a test when you were born in order to claim your citizenship! People in Mexico are standing on their side of the boarder, know that they can make something like 140 dollars that month to take care of their families. But if they cross over into the US, they can make $1500! I would like anyone here to say that they would choose to stay in Mexico under that situation. These people don't have the money to do it legally! We do need immigration reform.
