No that Snoop Doggy Dog has been denied access to the UK I was wondering if other artists face the same problems.

THREE girls who were imprisoned by their mother in a house of indescribable filth for seven years may never recover from the ordeal, experts said last night.

The girls were shut away from the outside world, existing in almost complete darkness, playing only with mice and communicating in their own language.

When they were discovered, their home in a smart, upper middle-class suburb had no running water and was filled with waste and excrement a metre high. The floor was corroded by mice urine.

The case has stunned Austria, still reeling from the Natascha Kampusch kidnapping, and the authorities were struggling last night to explain how such a horror story could have gone unnoticed.

The girls’ ordeal was apparently sparked by their parents’ divorce, after which their mother, a 53-year-old lawyer, suffered a breakdown. But she won custody of the girls — then aged 7, 11 and 13 — and withdrew them from school, claiming that she would give them private tuition at home.

Her husband, a local judge in Linz, Upper Austria, named only as Andreas M, was not allowed to see them once, despite his claims for access reaching court nine times.

The girls, Viktoria, Katharina and Elisabeth, were rescued only when police broke into the house after a neighbour, who had reported his suspicions several times, threatened a local council official with a lawsuit.

Although that was in October 2005, and the three have been in a specialised therapy centre since, the scandal was only revealed at the weekend.

The mother is now being held in a special remand prison branch for the mentally unstable. She will appear in court in a few weeks on charges of grievous bodily harm and torture, and is facing between five months and five years in prison.

She had ensured that the blinds were constantly shut, and that all but one light bulb had been removed in the house. When they were released, the three victims had white skin and could not endure exposure to natural light.

Authorities are now under fire for failing to have intervened sooner, despite repeated complaints by neighbours in the well-to-do Poestlingberg.

The mother was said to have been summoned to court nine times during the seven years after complaints by the father and neighbours, but officials never found a reason to investigate the case more closely.

Waltraud Kubelka, a therapist who is now treating the three girls, said that their psycho-social and physical development was “catastrophic”.

“The oldest one is doing very badly and has no prospects of recovery. She was severely undernourished and practically anorexic after her release. The two younger ones will need years to come to terms with their horrific childhood.

“In the first weeks after their release they were hiding under a bench in the kitchen (in the therapy centre) because that was the darkest spot. They could not endure light . . . they had not felt sunlight or fresh air for years.”

It is believed that the children had contact only with their mother during the seven years of captivity and, as a consequence, developed an almost unintelligible language of their own, described as a “singing-like” form of German.

Even after a year of therapy the oldest daughter, Elisabeth, now 21, is said to be so disturbed that she stands only on one foot for long periods staring at the floor. She often bursts into tears.

She and her two sisters also reportedly finish all sentences with the word “but”.

But according to her carers, the youngest of the three, Viktoria, could soon be discharged from therapy to join her father, who now is in constant contact with his daughters.

A council official said that authorities had had no knowledge of the “truly catastrophic” conditions.

The mother’s legal training and knowledge of the law has reportedly enabled her to postpone the trial. The case will he heard in front of a court in Klagenfurt in the next weeks, as both she and her husband are well known in the legal community of Linz.

Natascha Kampusch was held for eight years by Wolf-gang Priklopil, before escaping. Priklopil snatched her on her way to school when she was ten and kept her captive in a subterranean dungeon under his house near Vienna for eight years.

Professor Max Friedrich, a child psychiatrist who treated Ms Kampusch, said that the two cases should not be compared.

“This is entirely different, when the mother herself is the captor. It is tragic that the one person that commands full trust is misguided in that way. I do not envy their therapists.”

13-month-old scalded to death
Child's parents charged with neglect
BY RUTHANN ROBINSON and ELIZABETH EAKEN
Times Staff Writers

CROWN POINT | The parents of five children have been charged with neglect after their youngest, a 13-month-old girl, died Sunday from hot water burns that covered 85 percent of her body.

Robert Bozeman II, 29, and Tiffany Roby, 27, of 2185 Taney St., Gary, each face a maximum prison sentence of 50 years if convicted. They are in custody in lieu of $50,000 bond each.

Their daughter, Jada Bozeman, also was small for her age, said Jeff Wells, of the Lake County coroner's office.
The couple's four other children are in the custody of Child Protective Services, Gary police Sgt. Jack Arnold said. There were no obvious signs of neglect or abuse of those children, Arnold said.

The parents initially told police Jada fell into a bathtub full of hot water while they were in Indianapolis, and they sought treatment there for her injuries. Investigators found no hospital records to substantiate that story. They then said it happened Friday at home and they treated the injuries with cocoa butter, which seemed to relieve the pain, Wells said.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Roby made a statement to a Gary police investigator saying on Friday she was at her home in Gary when Jada fell into a bathtub filled with hot water. Roby said of bath water that she "runs it hot and lets it cool," according to the affidavit. After filling the tub, she reportedly left the bathroom and returned to see Jada in the tub "with her legs flapping up and down," according to the affidavit.

Roby reportedly said she pulled her daughter out of the water and put ointment on the burns, but the top layer of her skin started to come off. The problem continued to worsen as she applied more ointment. She told investigators she planned to take Jada to the doctor Monday.

"I was scared they would think that I did it on purpose, plus I thought she would be OK, her behavior didn't change," Roby told an investigator.

The affidavit says Bozeman told Gary Detective William Fazekas that about 1 p.m. Friday he was at home when he heard a scream and found Roby in the bathroom visibly upset and holding their crying daughter. He said Roby told him Jada fell into the bathtub. Bozeman reportedly said he used a towel to dry off the child and helped Roby put ointment on Jada's burns.

He then left for work and promised to purchase some burn medication on his way home. When he returned home, Bozeman reportedly helped put the burn ointment on his daughter and the next day he went to work. Bozeman said he returned home about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the affidavit.

Roby said she held Jada for most of the day Friday and stayed home Saturday. She "thought everything was fine in her heart," according to the affidavit.

At around 9 a.m. Sunday, Roby woke up and said she noticed Jada wasn't breathing. Bozeman called 911. Paramedics found no signs of life but transported Jada to the Methodist Hospitals' Gary campus, where medical personnel were unable to revive her, Arnold said.

An autopsy performed Monday showed someone submerged Jada into scalding water, Wells said. The burn pattern on her legs was consistent with the response a child would have to being dipped in something hot -- a drawing up of her legs to avoid the pain, Wells said.

The autopsy report by Dr. John Cavanaugh, a pathologist, listed "child abuse, child neglect," as significant conditions contributing to Jada's death, according to the affidavit. Jada suffered scalding on her lower face, jaw, base of head, neck, upper chest, left shoulder, entire back, the back of her upper arms, the back of her forearms and the front and back of her shins and calves, the affidavit says.

The official coroner's ruling said Jada died of an irregular heartbeat brought on by an electrolyte imbalance due to dehydration from the extensive scalding.

SOMETHING ALREADY TELLS ME THAT I'M GOING TO GET NOTHING BUT THE REASONS TO VOTE FOR CLINTON. i.e. GW is evil, vote for clinton

keep in mind: I have every right to speak my mind, and you do have the right to be offended. so go ahead and flag this question as "a dangerous idea" and do not answer the question.

keep in mind this question is pertaining to why "so called American citizens" would vote for clinton or o'bama.

yet again, (I already know what I am going to face, so I keep repeating) why would you vote clinton?
please, please, don't answer with, well she's not Bush.

Do they have to have their parking/running lights on? My friend states that this is entrapment if they don't, but I disagree. I have seen them in the median with their running lights on, but I'm guessing they have them on just in case someone is trying to do a U-turn and not crash into them. But, if in a vacant lot or parking lot during night time hours do they have to have them on?

It's pretty sad that so many Americans do not even understand the basics of how our own government works. I know that it is complicated but come on, the BASICS!

You always hear people (granted, usually teens) talk about how Bush is waging this war and how he is driving our country into such a mess...I was even talking to someone who was trying to convince me that Bush enacted the PATRIOT Act so that he could claim special powers in a time of war to keep his presidency forever "and become King."

Now come on...if you've ever seen this guy at a press conference, you'd know that he isn't exactly the type to mastermind such plots!

So who is to blame for this? Is it the school systems? The media? The parents for not explaining things? I just think it's so ridiculous.

Your former President ran a campaign on a slogan: "It's the economy, stupid!" Well i tell you all this, listen carefully, it is the Zionist and Israel (I will refrain from the word stupid). You are on the wrong side of the angels here. We are very determined to put an end to the Israeli threat. They have nuclear rockets aimed at us. US leaders provided the atomic threats and taught them how to destroy us. That was the terrible, terrible thing that was done. It cannot be ignored.
