I think I've read here on YA that very justification for the Patriot Act. That applies to DOJ officials too, right? If you've got nothing to hide you don't mind if we ask a few questions, listen in on a few phone calls, or check your library account, do you?

For example 2nd Lt. is a Gold bar, while 1st Lt. is Silver, likewise Major is a Gold Oak leaf and Lt. Col. is a Silver one. It seems counter-intuitive. What is the military tradition that makes this different for the military, than for all other ranks/awards?

I just answered a pretty disturbing question (asker: Sarah). She got pregnant but doesn't want her boyfriend in her life anymore (he cheated on her), so she wants to know if she falsely accuses him of rape, will the authorities know she is lying and will she still get child support?
Now, I know that people do these kinds of things but I guess it never really dawned on me how retarded some people can be. She's going to have a baby!
So I guess my question is: could YOU ever falsely accuse someone of rape under any circumstances?

I, obviously, could NOT. I know a few guys who deserve some bad things, but not THAT. I can't even imagine ruining someone's life like that.

every since the beginning of the iraq war i have heard that the casualty rate has been very low so that is why most people are not really worried about it. true the 3000 or so casualties is very low compared to previous wars, but tell that to the mother or father that has lost their son/daughter just like in previous wars!! i remember when everyone thought that when the death count got to 1000 that all hell would break loose. then 2000 and now 3000 and so on. so i just wonder what is an acceptable casualty rate for you out there? 5000,10,000,50,000 more???????????

I was also wondering if Guiliani would be our first Italian president. He was really a rock for the New Yorkers after 9/11, and he seems like a good choice for president. He's not only popular with Republicans, but also with moderates, which is crucial. For some reason, Mrs. Clinton was surprisingly quiet after 9/11. Not sure why. She went out of the way to become a senator in NY, but had so little to say when her state needed her most.

ago in Afganistan. Sorry i forget the soldiers name, he was former pro football player, killed by friendly fire, but initial story covered up by the military. My question is if generals will lie about something like this, don't you wonder if they ever tell the truth, I hope they all get court martialed and dishonorable discharges.......but since they will be judged by fellow generals they will all probably get pay raises. Your thoughts? I'm a 'Nam vet. Just remembered his name, it's Tilman.

If a car is coming you move away but tillman saw a bullet and got shot ,he should have ducked the army, only the brainless enlist for the meat grinder. And for those that think that killing civilians is honorable , please consult the Vienam vets they know better. Obviouslt our Vietnam vets got killed and these new recruit do not see the lesson left by our vet from Vietnam.
THIS IS WHAT BUSH JUST SAID....

"This is only the beginning," he said. "The message has spread from Damascus to Tehran that the future belongs to freedom, and we will not rest until the promise of liberty reaches every people in every nation."

THIS IS WHAT HITLER SAID...
"What we have to fight for is the freedom and independence of the fatherland, so that our people may be enabled to fulfill the mission assigned to it by the creator"

With the upcoming presidential race looming many politicians have commenced their personal agenda to promote their bid for the presidency. Among these politicians are a few, whose "run for the presidency" sets them apart from any other presidential race from the past, for reasons such as: religion, age, gender, modern versus traditional views and race. What political leader do you feel will rise to the presidency in 2008? Why?

I don't want rhetoric or BS. I don't want your feelings. If you want to call a man a liar, back it up. How do you know he didn't say what he was informed of as a fact. He wasn't in the CIA or FBI. Did he appoint the Directors of either organization? A lot of politicians made statements about Iraq and WMDs, including the Clintons, Gore, Kerry & Pelosi. Were they liars or just misinformed?
Quit your whining and stay behind your president and the fighting men and women over there!
He is the President of the United States and you elected him, either with your vote or by not voting against him.
Live with it!

After hearing all these claims about global poverty and the amounts of cash needed, i beg to ask the question:
What is better, a happy poor man, or a depressed rich man?
What is worse? Physical Poverty or Mental Poverty?

Seeing that the answer is obvious, can anyone tell me why these people don't believe in giving people more happier lives rather than to try to stop poverty? It would seem much more productive...

hello. I'm mexican and I have my visa B1/B2 that allows me to cross the border with USA "whenever" I want and my permit of 6 months to stay in US territory for 6 months and everybody knows I can't work in the states because I only have a tourist visa right? well, I work in Mexico (Tijuana) but live in the states so i was wondering is that's illegal in this country. I've been told that it's not because I'm not getting benefits from the goverment (such welfare, medical etc) and I'm not avoiding taxes at all since I dont work here. So I want to know if my situation is something illegal and if I'm doing something wrong. I live in the States because it's safer, it's better and there's a lot more things to see/do here than in Mexico. I work in MX because a) i cant work in the states because I dont have a green card & b) because I have no problem working in MX and I obviously can afford to stay in Ca. but sometimes at the border they ask me things such a: is this your car? for how long are

Since decolonization Zimbabwe has fallen from a net exporter of goods and services to an economic quagmire. How do you feel about him?
