I think obama has a good chance of thriving over the next year. Hes new, fresh, and is opposed to the war which at this time seems to be a major issue in the upcoming elections but its still so early that if some thing negative were to effect his campaign in the next year he may not make that much of a difference. I say lets cross our fingers.

As for as India's Presidency concerned, a person with political background plus communal influence and proposed by opposition with the experience as Governor in the past were chosen as President. 2008 Presidency is concerned, it is tought because Opposition is strong in bringing Hindu Dharma on top of the world. The Ruling Party is searching a place for security and keep everyone safe for their living in future. However, the common man in nowhere interested in this. Only intellectual that are in Rajya sabha and the time only has to decide the future President of India.

REPUBLICANS
Giuliani is polling highly right now, but as soon as Republican primary voters discover that he's pro-choice, pro-gay marriage and pro-gun control, he's going to plummet in the polls.
McCain is looking rusty and old. I don't think he has the fight in him that he had in 1999-2000.
Romney is very telegenic and polished, but his conservative credentials aren't up to snuff. Also, the Mormon thing creeps out the Evangelical Christians.
I'm calling it right now - if Fred Thompson gets into the primary race, he wins it hands down.
DEMOCRATS
This is Hillary's race to lose. There's a lot of talk about Obama, but he's green. Also, Hillary has Bill on her side, arguably the greatest political mind alive today.
If it's Hillary vs. Fred Thompson, I give the race to Hillary. Fred Thompson is deeply conservative, and America doesn't like conservative values.

I believe that John Edwards will ultimately win the presidency. First is because Clinton and Obama will become too negative, and the US will tire quickly of either one of them. I predict that one or both will again be tainted by a scandal. The Republicans will also self-destruct. Bush's unwillingness to pullout from Iraq will be a burden on whoever runs under that ticket. They will be forced to defend Bush's policy or admit flatout that it was wrong all along. I don't know if the US will support another prolonged period with our troops in Iraq. Edwards will win support because of the bravery of his wife's struggles with cancer. He will show a courageous front in the midst of it all that will prove to the US how much pressure he can absorb while looking to solve the issues of the day. Edwards will become the early frontrunner, then the two major ones will bump each other off. Edwards-Richardson will win in 2008.

Individual freedom is the dream of our age. It's what our leaders promise to give us, it defines how we think of ourselves and, repeatedly, we have gone to war to impose freedom around the world. But if you step back and look at what freedom actually means for us today, it's a strange and limited kind of freedom.
Politicians promised to liberate us from the old dead hand of bureaucracy, but they have created an evermore controlling system of social management, driven by targets and numbers. Governments committed to freedom of choice have presided over a rise in inequality and a dramatic collapse in social mobility. And abroad, in Iraq and Afghanistan, the attempt to enforce freedom has led to bloody mayhem and the rise of an authoritarian anti-democratic Islamism. This, in turn, has helped inspire terrorist attacks in Britain. In response, the Government has dismantled long-standing laws designed to protect our freedom.
