ago in Afganistan. Sorry i forget the soldiers name, he was former pro football player, killed by friendly fire, but initial story covered up by the military. My question is if generals will lie about something like this, don't you wonder if they ever tell the truth, I hope they all get court martialed and dishonorable discharges.......but since they will be judged by fellow generals they will all probably get pay raises. Your thoughts? I'm a 'Nam vet. Just remembered his name, it's Tilman.

I was in Desert Storm, myself, and I don't find it amazing at all, really. I shouldn't have to tell you that Generals almost always lie to their superiors; that way, no one has to say that they knew the truth when it inevitably comes out. Plausible deniability and all that, remember? We probably wouldn't have even read about it if Tillman wasn't a big-name sports star, either; this is going to cause a doozy of a stink, don't you think?

Truth is the first causualty of war .Pat Tillman was a good decent American who just wanted to do the right thing for his country . Shame on the military machine for making him a public relation pawn......By the way , Vietnam vets are not thanked enough,,,,,thank you.

His name is Pat Tillman. He was an Arizona Cardinal. Gave up a million dollar contract to join the fight against terrorism. Very sad story, but one of many.
Thanks to you also, for fighting for those who couldn't.

I read this story in Sports Illustrated dated May 3, 2004, Volume 100, Issue 18 (Pat Tillman is on the cover)http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/magazine/09/05/tillman0911/
I recommend it to anyone who is curious about what really happened.

if you were in combat. Especially that CF called the nam you know that friendly fire happens..In the political climate today it would be almost suicidal for an officer to admit to that kind of mistake. I dont think anyone has figured out exactly what happened either.

The US badly needs jingoistic symbols in a feeble attempt to curry favor and support for this war. That's why they lied about the whole Jessica Lynch affair.
