supporting the most corrupt Regime to ever steal it's way into office?

I totally support our troops. I want every one of them to come home safe and sound. And when they return they should get the best treatment possible for whatever problems they have. I support pay increases for troops. I think we could do a far better job of equiping our troops (Body armour, etc), and I think that if we are going to fight a war we should send enough troops so they can support one and other.

But the constant use of the phrase 'support our troops' is just a political tool by politicians. They are constantly accusing people of not supporting troops, or using the 'support' of troops to try to justify military actions. They use this phrase to oppose various plans to try to change the strategy in the war or to end the war.

Are we not simply using the troops when we invoke this phrase constantly?

If the upper echelons of the US government really supports our troops then there would've been no scandal at Walter Reed.

Stop using the troops as politcial pawns?

We talked about this in of my classes. Gas prices do not need to be as high as they are. One of the reasons is because the CEO's are making Millions of dollars. And we came up with how to stop this is that gas companies of course need our money. So if oil is hard to come by and gas companies complain of only makeing marginal incomes. Then why are their CEO's makeing a fortune? So to stop this we should have a gas strike. No one drives their car for a week or 2 weeks or a month. Until gas companys lower their prices. Everyone should take public transportation or walk or ride bikes. If you do have to drive carpool with as many people as possible. We agree that if the majority of Americans did this then gas companies would be forced to lower prices. The question is would you be willing to particiapte or do you believe that the majority of the country would be willing to sacrifice such an important luxary that we have?

Straight out of the NY Times:

"Mrs. Edwards was preparing for further tests — ones she said she expected would reveal a perilous spread of the cancer — and her husband, who is squeamish about IV’s, had left the room."

He left the room while the woman he loves is dying of cancer while she was getting a treatment? And he did this because he's "squeamish about IV's?" I almost (but not quite) wish I was a registered Democrat so I could vote against this idiot in the primary. If you have no backbone, you're not fit to be a president. But, I mean at least try to find your backbone so you can support your dying wife if you want to be a decent human being much less a presdient.

And isn't this the same jerk who stole millions out of our health care system? Shouldn't he be used to way more horrible medical situations by now?

It seems that all you can find out there are sites for either left wing idiots or right wing idiots. They basically preach to the choir, only present "facts" (often not very factual) that support their groupthink agenda, and spend their energy trying to tear down people they disagree with in insulting ways rather than providing stimulating discussion.

Are there any sites out there that are non-partisan, encourage constructive discussion/debate without the insults and garbage, and where actual ideas are more important than who's side is winning?

My fiance has been working in the U.S. for a few years with his H1B (also just had it renewed), and we'll be getting married this June. I think we all know that there are some hawks in the Bush admin, possibly including Bush himself, who would like to attack Iran. But could President Bush just decide to launch air strikes or some other military offesive against Iran without approval of the congress?

Of course, the President can attack a country if they are attacking the USA, or are posing an imminent threat, but Iran really isn't doing that.

Would it be legal for Bush to give the order to attack Iran?

See the beslan schoolhouse slaughter if you dare at prophetofdoom.net ....I would ADVISE everyone to warn your kids, teachers and bus drivers and have them plan ways around this type of thing, like for one, rushing the terrorists,drivers certainly not stopping for them, and watching all traffic around kids busses, etc.be genuine, these people are deadly to americans they want to kill 4 million americans, 2 million american children , and they will continue to try until our government puts them out of our countries !
